The media is insane to compare him to Reagan. He is nothing like Reagan.

Comparing Trump to Reagan Should Be a Slappable Offense

Reagan would never personally attack opponents — especially fellow Republicans — on the scale Trump does.

Trump couldn’t carry Reagan’s jockstrap.

Remember Reagan’s 11th Commandment. Never attack a fellow Republican. Trump violates that commandment every time he opens his mouth.

Trump is NOT like Reagan. He wishes he was but no way on this earth should he be compared to President Ronald Reagan.

And now let me help those of you who either didn't read the article, or have reading comprehension problems:

The article is a comparison of the reaction of the GOP and the MSM when Reagan was running, compared to how they are reacting today to Trump. Very similar, she provides quotes. She is NOT comparing the two men or their policies.

Trump is very very much like a young Reagan. We who knew him when he was governor and early campaigning for President. And the RINOs esp Bush went after him hard.

No. I like Trump. I haven’t been this excited about a guy since Reagan.

I have not found nearly the depth of thought in Trump that Reagan had (as is evidenced by the publication of "Reagan, In His Own Hand: The Writings of Ronald Reagan that Reveal His Revolutionary Vision for America". He was truly remarkable. It is true that like Regan, Trump is being vilified as an outsider dunce with no chance of winning. It is a mistake to underestimate Trump.

I’d have to disagree with Ann on several points.

Reagan was a true down-the-line and solid Conservative. On issue after issue. Trump strays off the reservation on frequent occasions. Single payer healthcare for example. I would describe him more as a right-leaning Populist.

Reagan was a class act. He was rarely dismissive or insulting to people who disagreed with him. On the contrary he diffused them with gentle humor. Trump goes after his opponents with a jackhammer to the nose, and does not spare their feelings.

Both have a populist crossover appeal to blue collar Democrats. Both speak their mind in a way that makes the Beltway Establishment squirm, which people love.

Trump’s MO is more in keeping with the times. Our politics have become much rougher and coarser over the past 35 years. I am not sure Reagan could be elected today. And we have to save this country by sticking with the best viable alternative who can....which appears to be Trump.

This is not the first time Trump has been compared to Reagan here. And the Trump comparisons don't stop with Reagan.

FR Trump comparison list:

I'm a big trump fan and it's an insult to Reagan to make the comparison. There's only once person in the same league. And she's not running.

.
The only way that Trump compares to any part of Reagan is the part Reagan carried behind him.

Politically, Trump is a total flake and fake.

A chameleon.

Change positions like socks (two per day).

Reagan never did anything to prevent a real conservative from winning an election.

Trump is far closer to Michael Moore than Ronald Reagan.

In one way Trump is just as good if not better than Reagan: It’s in their ability to bypass the media and speak directly to the voters and constituents.

His Twitter posts — both the rants and the substative ones — are seen and reported on just as widely as anything Reagan said when he broadcasted his messages from the White House. And what’s amazing: Trump isn’t even president, yet he already has a tremendous media platform.

All for free.

Trump does have some Reagan in him!

Reagan is famous for his belief that it was amazing what could be accomplished if you didn't care who got credit for it. And Reagan had no problem admitting when he was wrong. Trump, on the other hand, has a ego that doesn't allow sharing credit with anyone and couldn't admit a mistake if his life depended on it. There is no Reagan in Trump.
