W spend the first 7 months of his presidency pimping amnesty for illegal Mexicans and kissing up to Vicente Fox in 2001 instead of taking action on the threats from Al Qaeda. He wasn’t paying attention to anything except his beloved Illegals until after 9/11.

Bush ran on rooting out illegals? Pretty sure he did not do that. So what exactly is your point since you don’t have a point?

That’s what I remembered! Over stayed their student visas while they were busy taking flight lessons.

What could possibly go wrong?

He didn’t run on granting massive amnesty, but that’s what he started working on immediately after taking office.

That was his focus.

You refuse to acknowledge that point so to you there is no point.

River.

Egypt.

Denial.

You.

In 1994, 7 years before 9/11, Tom Clancy’s Debt of Honor ended with a Japanese airline being intentionally flown into the Capitol.

In 1995, the terrorist Bojinka plot was revealed, which included plans for flying an airliner into CIA headquarters.

The whole notion that the 9/11 plot was simply inconceivable prior to 9/11 is an enormous myth. GWB had been in office only 8 months. But surely he stills some responsibility and surely it is too much to say that he “kept us safe”. I also do not think the thousands of Americans who died or lost limbs in Iraq were “kept safe” in an effort that ended up under George W. Bush with an Iranian-allied government in power in Iraq and the entire Middle East destabilized. (Which is in no way to excuse Mr. Obama for making the situation even worse.)

It most assuredly would, insofar as DoD’s portion of the transition is concerned.

Vicente Fox Is Set To Greet George W. Bush.

February 02, 2001

Third, Fox wants a new approach to immigration that recognizes America’s need for Mexican workers. He wants to legalize workers who are in the United States illegally and push for contracts for short-term workers, even as Mexico builds up a bigger job base.

“The young don’t go up there to work for the hot dogs. Tacos are better,” he insisted. “They want to stay home.”

I think if Slick runs again he’ll hit him with that stuff.

By that same token, I'd have thought he'd have waited for GWB to run again before hitting him with this stuff.

Bush had faults (Medicare, immigration, bank bailouts) but when it’s said he “kept us safe” everyone understands that is post-9/11. That’s just an unspoken understanding. If one wishes to even partly blame him for 9/11, ok I guess some arguments can be made there (I wouldn’t make them) but when Jeb Bush said his brother “kept us safe” it was crystal clear (at least to me) that he was speaking post-9/11.

Were there any Ft. Hood style shootings on his watch? How about knife wielding members of the ROP roaming around stabbing cops? Were there any ROP motivated attacks on Bush’s watch? The answer is “no” so yeah he “kept us safe”.

The Dems by and large (except the Truther nuts who come from both extreme right and left) don’t blame Bush for 9/11 at all because they know that there’s more blame to lay at Clinton’s feet for it than Bush.

It was just stupid for Trump to bring 9/11 up at all as a challenge to Jeb. I don’t know why he and his apologists can’t seem to just admit that and move on.

To say that Bush kept us safe with reference only to post-9/11 is something like asking Mrs. Lincoln how the play was apart from her husband being killed. 9/11 was obviously the fault of the terrorists. But it was allowed to happen in large part because the political Establishment of the United States including Republicans and Democrats and including George W. Bush as well as Bill Clinton were not tough on any kind of illegal immigration including visa overstayers and abusers of student visas, and because both the establishment of both parties cozied up to the government of Saudi Arabia for decades. I do not agree that Bush has no responsibility for this. And I do not agree that Bush has no responsibility for what is currently going in Syria, and I say this despite Obama spending the past 7 years making things even worse. The important thing to realize is that the Bush family has never been conservative. Whether it was the father’s battles against Reagan or his purge of Reaganites after taking office, this has always been the case.

Bull

"In accordance with a practice established by President Harry S. Truman, presidential nominees of both major political parties receive intelligence briefings at some point between the summer political conventions and the presidential elections every four years. Assuming a candidate is an incumbent president or vice president, he is already accustomed to receiving such briefings, but for a contender who has not served in the inner circles of a previous administration, the briefing is an entirely new experience. The pace of briefings intensifies once a candidate is chosen in the November elections, and continues in the period leading up to inauguration day. Thereafter, the new chief executive will receive intelligence briefings on a regular basis in the form of the presidential daily briefing (PDB)."

I find it VERY disturbing. It has been suggested to me that he does it intentionally in order to highlight the imperial presidency. I remain unconvinced.

According to authorities, all of the hijackers who committed the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks were foreigners. All of them entered the country legally on a temporary visa, mostly tourist visas with entry permits for six months. Although four of them attended flight school in the United States, only one is known to have entered on an appropriate visa for such study, and one entered on an F-1 student visa. Besides the four pilots, all but one of the terrorists entered the United States only once and had been in the country for only three to five months before the attacks.

The four pilots had been in the United States for extended periods, although none was a legal permanent resident. Some had received more than one temporary visa, most of which were currently valid on September 11, but at least three of them had fallen out of status and were, therefore, in the United States illegally.

How odd. I don’t recall a massive push for illegal amnesty in 2001. What I do recall is a long fight for cabinet positions, the rush to pass No Child Left Behind, and a US jet sitting on a Chinese runway for 11 days.

If there was a focus by Bush on amnesty so distracting that he ignored everything else, it certainly escaped the notice of Congress.

Especially so when Jeb can be attacked on SO many other, relevant positions.

Also don't forget that in the days after 9-11, when NO planes were allowed to fly, Bush allowed a large number of Saudi "VIPs" to fly back to Saudi Arabia.

Tippytoes Jeb isn't too bright, which is why he's about to open a can of worms that is going to make his his entire family look really bad.

The Bush family is in bed with Saudi Arabia and did nothing to them after 9/11, even though 95% of the terrorist were from SA.

What order did Bush give that restricted the Intel community and FBI from doing their job which was to find terrorists and criminals?
