An Oakland City Council member who wants the Police Department to hire more African American officers has focused her attention on the written exam for new applicants — which is the point where many candidates get eliminated.

Diversity will always trump character, competency, training and qualifications. If the problem is that too many of her people are not passing the test, common sense - I know, I know, we’re talking liberalism here - suggests that test takers be better prepared. Might that not be a better solution, to prepare the test takers instead of infecting the ranks with losers? And if the PD is to reflect the elements of the community they serve, get ready for a crime spike among the ranks of officers.

The councilwoman has implicitly given up on her own people. She’s saying they’re too terminally stupid and incapable of improving so penalize the community she supposedly loves by giving them losers in uniform. If this isn’t liberal racism on steroids then what is?
