Allow ban on guns inside campus buildings to stand (barf alert)
Milwaukee J-S ^ | 15 oct 2015

The National Rifle Association and its supplicants in legislatures around the country and the U.S. Congress have a ready and facile answer for the problem of gun violence in the United States:

More guns.

If only the students inside that Oregon community college were armed when a student killed nine and injured nine others Oct. 1. If only teachers in the nation's high schools carried guns. If only carrying firearms was legal everywhere.

But it's a fantasy the firearms industry has inflated in the minds of supporters.

And it's fantastical to think that lightly trained citizens packing guns will either prevent or alter the path of a determined shooter. The greater risk is that more arms means more shootings and more deaths. And that's why a bill to allow guns inside university buildings in Wisconsin is such a bad idea.

Since 2011, concealed weapons have been legal on the grounds of public colleges and universities but schools can ban weapons inside the buildings. Rep. Jesse Kremer (R-Kewaskum) and Sen. Devin LeMahieu (R-Oostburg) want to repeal the University of Wisconsin System's ban. It's a response, Kremer claims, to violence near the UW-Milwaukee campus.

"Crime is on the rise around the cam

This one insists that a sign will make a difference.

I suppose if it was large enough, one could clobber the gunman with it.

It actually isnt more guns.

These people are already gun owners, they already have their guns. They just cant carry them in certain places. Its actually not going to result in any extra guns that are not already owned, in society.

Liberal logic:

We’ve banned guns in campus buildings, that will handle these shootings.

(yet another shooting happens)

You know, we really need to expand these gun bans, as they apparently aren’t effective enough.

(yet another shooting happens)

We really should ban guns in student cars and on campus.

(yet another shooting happens)

What we really need is to ban any gun from coming within 1,000 feet of a school!

JUST like their idiotic ‘social net’, a program has zero positive results to show, many many examples of negative results, but like always, the liberal answer is to double down on failed policy.

Let’s just see how it works: we’ve done away with the concealed carry ban on campuses in Texas, and in a coupla years we’ll see how that works out.

That same people making dire predictions about campus concealed carry made similar dire predictions about public concealed carry over the past decades, and you know what?
They were wrong.
Crime has dropped enormously - in places where the bad guys know their “victims” might shoot back...

If more guns are the problem, why do they call the cops when a shooting occurs? The guns that they carry will only make the situation worse.

Reminds me of when people argue in favor of Communism, saying that it merely hasn’t been “done correctly”. How many more thousands have to die on the streets of Stupidity and Ignorance until something is done to prevent these atrocities? After all, insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Something must be changed. Hanging onto the same outmoded and nonsensical policies will accomplish nothing except sending innocent people to the grave.

If you’re willing to murder people, arguably one f the most heinous offenses one could commit, the legalities of carrying weapons to kill said people will not stop you.

SSDD. The idiots actually believe simply possessing a firearm on a school campus magically makes you a killer. Despite all evidence to the contrary, “gun free zones” don’t stop mass murders.

I would like to see the day when a suspect enters a college classroom and shoots at the professor and 6 students draw their handguns and kill the suspect-— 5 center mass and 1 in the shoulder and then the student who only hit the shoulder is sent to the college basement firing range for a couple of days of shooting practice.

As Archie Bunker said. “Arm all the passengers on an airplane with guns to end sky jacking.”

So then ask them why those with guns come in and shoot up the place?

The greater risk is that more arms means more shootings and more deaths.

The author assumes we will take this at face value without any evidence to support it.

If you’re willing to murder people, arguably one f the most heinous offenses one could commit, the legalities of carrying weapons to kill said people will not stop you.

But knowing that everyone else will be unarmed would likely play a part in determining where you commit your crime.

Pretty rare for someone to go on a shooting rampage at a police station or a gun show. Then again, if it is the 'gun culture' which enables these mass shootings, a favorite liberal thought, wouldn't every single gun show be marred by at least one mass shooting?

The liberal logic of doubling down on failed policies really has to end.

Tomorrow, Maine's Constitutional Carry law goes into effect. Even today, 75% of the US population lives in a state where concealed carry is not permitted at all, or permits are required to be issued to non-felons ("shall issue").

To repeat:

75%

of Americans live in a place they can carry, if they are not convicted felons.

We are winning. These stupid newspaper hoplophobes are LOSING.

Rats, messed up the post; first sentence is supposed to say “not restricted at all” not “not permitted at all”.

I can still get in from my Office IP address, but my home address is shut down. Thanks.

I think anyone who disarms their people by rule should be held criminally liable if and when anyone violates the gun ban and shoots up the place.
