The article is pedantic Will, but it demonstrates the level of Cruz's genius-- he is a once in a century strategist. Cruz will transform the GOP back to a limited gov't constitutional party. Others may talk, Cruz has a master plan- mapped out in excruciating detail
I imagine Cruz's plan was part of his conversation with Trump.

Rita, I’m not forcing Cruz on you— -:) but we had that conversation about Hillary winning— and I said Cruz has a plan. I’m sure this plan was likely conveyed to Trump in their conversations.

Hmmm. Looks like ol’ Georgie has given up trying to prop up the Joyful Turtle. Still, I’m a bit surprised Georgie is trying to anoint Cruz as the GOPe’s savior from Trump. The GOPe must be truly desperate if they’d rather have Cruz than Trump. Tells you just HOW scared the GOPe is of Trump.
