CNN anchor Jake Tapper confronted Donald Trump on Sunday for placating a supporter who spouted anti-Muslim conspiracy theories.
At a Thursday town-hall event, a man presented multiple inflammatory claims to Trump, including the widely debunked allegation that President Barack Obama is a Muslim.
But Tapper bluntly pressed Trump on the man's broader declaration that Muslims were a "problem."
"You're not responsible for what he says, but this is raw, unvarnished, ignorant bigotry," Tapper said. "You are a leader. You are the front-runner in the Republican race. Do you not have a responsibility to call out this hatred?"
Trump suggested that the CNN "State of the Union" host was simply trying to be "politically correct" and defended the idea that some Muslims were a serious problem.
"I have friends that are Muslims," the real-estate mogul said. "They're great people, amazing people. And most Muslims like most everything I mean, these are fabulous people. But we certainly do have a problem."
"What's the problem?" Tapper asked.

Where was the hatred? Mostly the MSM has a problem with TRUTH!
Oh for heaven’s sake.
The man’s question was regarding training camps.
We’re supposed to love that?
The media are the enemy of the American people
This is about the 100th time the media has tried to destroy Trump
This is so ridiculous to me . According to the media Trump has to defend the monster Obama against any one that says anything against Obama. I don’t see how this works with the public. who could fall for that line?
De MSM...dey get dere feelers hurt when Trump calls them out then getspissed when he doesn’t fall for their bait. Can’t win with the MSM.
Well, you pretty much hit on the “problem” as far as the left is concerned -
Truth IS “hatred” to them.
Why else would they go apoplectic about questions of Obama’s citizenship, religion, or resemblance to the anti-Christ?
Nope.
Faux issue, faux outrage
Now Jake, let’s talk about the economy and the Iran deal and open borders
Trump should have a half dozen enlightening passages from the Koran and another dozen examples of how Islam has spread and of muslim 'tolerance' of minority religions ready for the next time some media tool like Jake Tapper insults those who question the wisdom of inviting more muslims into the country.
If Tapper can’t see that Muslims are a problem, he’s an idiot.
This is stupidest non-event ever. Who cares? This is one of those subject where Newt would have absolutely destroyed the media to the point that they would have been afraid to ask it again.
I like Trump’s style handling these sorts of things, but it does make think about how Newt handled the media.
Hatred? So, CNN admits that being called Muslim is an insult?
Tapper acts as if there’s something wrong with being muslim.....
The Won is definitely not Muslim.
Muslims worship Allah.
The Won worships none but himself.
He is, however, most assuredly a Muslim sympathizer.
Tapper ought to start thinking whether he’s gonna get home safely at night instead of continuing this PC BS.
Hmmm I seem to recall one of CNNs own calling Bush chimp on air. Dont they have an obligation to stand up to hatred?
Quite the contrast to the softballs the media tossed to candidate Obama and their ongoing protection of him.
I’m beginning to wonder why we keep flogging this story of Tapper’s lame attempt to impugn Trump; without including the part where Trump tossed the grenade BACK into Tapper’s lap and made him look like a smacked butt? If you’re going to flog a story, flog the whole thing, unless you want to go the way of the infamous and shamed Dan Rather.
Be careful when you try to sandbag FReepers. They’ll tear you a new one.
My reply would have been: “I am not responsible for anyone else’s statements. I have no obligation to support or condemn them. That being said, he is not a Muslim, and is not a Christian either. He is an atheistic marxist.”
Tapper calls it “hatred”. Others might call it “free speech”. You would think a real member of the unbiased media would advocate free speech. We know where Tapper stands.
