Leonard Pitts Jr.: If Sandy Hook is 'bearable,' what is not? (barf alert)
Wisconsin State Journal ^ | 08 sept 2015 | Leonard Pitts, Jr.

You frequently find fortune cookie aphorisms, yes, but it’s not often that you find searing insight within Twitter’s 140-character confines. Which is why a June tweet from one Dan Hodges — his profile describes him as a British political commentator — stood out.

“In retrospect,” wrote Hodges, “Sandy Hook marked the end of the U.S. gun control debate. Once America decided killing children was bearable, it was over.”

You may cringe to hear the nation’s response to the December 2012 massacre of 20 young children — six adults also died — at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, described in that fashion, but you can’t deny the brutal truth of the observation.

After Sandy Hook, President Obama called for new legislative initiatives, saying, “Surely we can do better than this.” Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter said, “We need action.” Rep. John Larson said, “Politics be damned.” Parents of one victim walked the halls of Congress carrying pictures of their dead son and beseeching lawmakers to look, even as polls showed nearly 60 percent of Americans wanted stronger gun laws

Once America decided killing children was bearable, it was over.

As deplorable as Sandy Hook was in the actions of an uncontrolled mental case, it was not at this point when "it was over."

That was in 1973.

"Once America decided killing children was bearable, it was over.”

That would be more apropos to the abortion debate - America is just fine with ripping arms and legs off of little baby boys and little baby girls.

Nobody on the RKBA side of the debate was flippant about lunatics murdering school kids.

One problem ... America has not accepted children were even killed

I'm not going to piss with anyone ... it is what it is ... MUCH of America believes it was a hoax, and with THAT, there seems to be complacency

I have a feeling there is good reason for "them" to fear Trump ... he STILL doesn't believe the Kenyan is American ... he's just kept silent because the split is detrimental to his plans

How much y'wanna' bet President Trump puts America on the map again by doing nothing more than exposing 80 years of lieing and chicanery ?

The pissed off, but now released from bondage American people will build the factories and start makiing all the Chinese crap we buy now

Trump will claim he did it ... but all he did was reveal the truth .... JFK, MLK, Iranians and RFH, Anwar Sadat ...

We all suspect there's more but it's locked up

No one advocates the slaughter of innocent children.

Leonard Pitts is wigging mental - the 2nd Amendment and the RKBA have nothing to do with it whatsoever.

And Americans appreciate the difference.

Would Pitts call for the defunding of Planned Parenthood? Of course not.

Then his concern is only for some - not for all children’s lives.

Once slaughtering 56 MILLION babies was acceptable to the United States as a legal right, then no other laws have any significance.

This "right" is not only destructive to a Republic, it is a Cancer on civilization!

Sandy Hook wasn’t a hoax. There are plenty of Americans that believe the problem isn’t a gun problem, it’s a mental health problem. Like the Aurora theater shooting, and VA Tech, and Gabby Giffords, and the Long Island train, Sandy Hook was perpetrated by a mentally ill person with insufficient care. Until fix that problem there will be more like that. All the gun laws in the world won’t fix that.

This article was written for the Democrat plow mule masses. You know, the ones that wear the blinders to keep them from looking around at anywhere except the row they have to pull.

Exactly. No gun control law is going to stop someone bent on committing murder.

Laws restrain honest people. They don’t exist for the bad guys.

Liberals believe another rule will finally restrain the dark side of human nature.

Polls reveal... Since the Clinton days, I’ve realized polls are tools of tyrants. Put all these gun laws up for debate and a vote. See what happens. My guess, the laws the jack-boots already have would be overturned. Nonetheless, inalienable rights are not up for a vote.

Once the guns are gone......the Marxist will have a field day finally having their totalitarian state with +300 million subjects. Like Valerie Jarrett said
“Obama Ready to RULE on Day 1” will then have teeth.

Don’t give me any of your BS nonsense Leonard.

You never gave a damn about kids or children since you’re fully behind Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry.

Talk to the hand....

We have put up with Leonard Pitts, Jr. for quite a few years, without him suffering even a public horse-whipping in return for his idiotic views.

Nobody suggests Sandy Hook was acceptable.
It's the knee-jerk standard leftist "solution" to every shooting that's not acceptable.

The empty Fairfield State Psychiatric Hospital is about a mile away from Sandy Hook.

The problem is the Community Mental Health Act of 1963. The libs have given us a society filled with free-range crazy people and criminals and they want to take away our ability to defend ourselves from the problems that they have created.

” MUCH of America believes it was a hoax, and with THAT, there seems to be complacency”

Are you talking about Sandy Hook or the Abortion videos? People who think Sandy Hook was a hoax are a very small number of loonies.

“In retrospect,” wrote Hodges, “Sandy Hook marked the end of the U.S. gun control debate. Once America decided killing children was bearable, it was over.”

Its not over in NY where Sandy Hook resulted in the “Safe act” which banned/registered many semiautos, and restricted ammo sales. Don’t get complacent, the gun grabbers are still very active.

If a Sandy Hook happened every day it would pale in comparison to the pain, suffering, and death that would follow our tyrannical government’s actions if the right to bear arms is lost.

The solutions to Sandy Hook is not to lay down and surrender but to take up arms and fight.
