Set Phasers to Kill! SJWs Burn Down The Hugo Awards To Prove How Tolerant And Welcoming They Are
Breitbart ^ | August 23, 2015 | Milo Yiannopoulos

Posted on 08/24/2015 1:34:03 PM PDT by EveningStar

At the seventy-third annual Worldcon science fiction convention on Saturday night, social justice warriors did their best impression of the nightmare firemen of Ray Bradbury’s classic Fahrenheit 451, choosing to burn down the Hugo Awards and damage science fiction instead of seeing works of heretical authors outside of their exclusive clique winning awards.

Earlier this year, Breitbart reported on the Sad Puppies and Rabid Puppies voting slates, which swept many major categories for the Hugo Awards, science fiction’s coveted fan-voted awards. This year’s Hugos were hotly anticipated: fans and industry insiders alike were curious to see if social justice could come together to act with the uniformity of thought of the Borg to overcome the Puppy’s nominations.

I think so too, and I don’t believe it needed to be that way. Rather than being educational and enlightening, it seems the author was more intent on seeming to be cool to people who already know much of this.

Not a very good service to the broader public IMO.

I don’t think this is intended to be a comprehensive article. I wish it was. However, it links to a previous article which in turn links to yet another previous article. Also, you can check the sadpuppies, sjw, and socialjusticewarrior keywords. :)

I have never met Brad, but he is a Facebook friend. Speaking of Brad on Facebook, he has some interesting discussions going on over on his Facebook page. Have you been following those?

Thanks. I appreciate the mention.

Perhaps I’m not being very enlightened by not feeling like delving into this.

These people relish being ‘the sub culture’ to the point that no one can actually identify with them.

Tell me it’s a Conservative group warring against Leftists, and my ears will perk up.

Puppies, Social Justice Warriors?

Do I really care?

Should I?

I’ll have to consider that after I count my collection of soup can labels later this year.

/s

OK, that makes perfect sense now.

Now can you explain Gamergate?

Especially obtuse are the prognostications for the future.

As opposed to "prognostications for the past?"

The PC Liberals, for the last 30-40 years have gotten quite good at that, too!

...and not just concerning 'climate...'

Will the SJW crowd ban Orwell’s “1984” and “Animal Farm” from the next convention? How about “Farenheit 451”?

Maybe they will ban “Stranger in a Strange Land” because it came from the Old Testament. No religion allowed here in Marxist SciFiLand, you know.

Ray Bradbury would drive a stake thru the SJW heart if he were still around.

A game developer named Zoe Quinn created a game called “Depression Quest”, which is text only and does explores the struggles of depression. It got glowing reviews.

People realized it was crap and word got out that Zoe may have tricked her way into good reviews.

Mainstream publications balked, Zoe cried misogyny and it turned into a tirade about the lack of social justice.

Gamers replied that the industry was doing the opposite, another woman got involved a made spurious claims of death threats.

Oh and a feminist journalist became a leftist darling after feigning to be a gamer and parrot garbage.

You’re probably thinking of Orson Scott Card who wrote Enders Game and it’s follow-ons. He was targeted for personal destruction by the SJB’s (B is for Bullies, as suggested by John Ringo) solely because he opposes same sex marriage. Including an organized boycott of the Enders Game movie.

Although not directly involved with the whole Sad Puppies campaign, it is very much related as an example of increasingly militant intolerance by the Progressive Left. One of many.

Back on thread; keep in mind that the goal of Sad Puppies wasn’t to win awards, but use the awards process to expose the Progressives for the fascists they are. It’s been an overwhelming success: even a major Socialist like Eric “The Red” Flint (Baen author and editor, originator of the 1632 series) has called out his ideological fellow travellers for their behavior.

The reason the Hugo awards matter and Gamergate matters is that it is part of the culture wars of right vs left.

Sexual orientation, skin color, and leftist theology is not more important than the creative works when it comes to sci-fi or gaming.

Sad Puppies and Gamergate exposed the leftist hypocrisy and leftist control of those industries.

I am friends with Brad on Facebook and read his posts but I don’t generally comment. I don’t consider myself a sci-fi fan. I have known him since 1998 and we occasionally meet for lunch. Brad’s online activity is impressive and he still is able to fit in work and family. Brad is very friendly, kind, genuine, and intelligent.
