The attorney general is slated to announce today settlements with five retailers, including some industry giants, for selling toy guns that don’t fit state appearance requirements.
Walmart, which sold 149 illegal toy guns throughout the state, including 20 in New York City, also agreed to pay a $225,000 penalty.
Eric Schneiderman says Walmart, Amazon, Kmart, Sears, and online retailer ACTA agreed to the settlement.
Rice was shot and killed by patrol officers who said they thought the boy’s toy gun, which did not have the brightly colored markings indicating it was a toy, was real. All told, the attorney general found that 6,429 of the realistic-looking toy guns were sold in New York by the five retailers from 2012 to 2014.

There shouldn't have to be a law against selling these. Adults should behave like adults and never choose to design, manufacture, market, or sell realistic looking toy guns.
If it's a dumb idea to make toys that are choking hazards, then it is a dumb idea to make toys that are a "death by cop" hazard.

I have not seen a toy gun in ANY store that did not have a bright orange barrel tip for the past 20 years.
I suspect the little miscreants bought one from Walmart and painted the tip black.

I have no idea why big business is the supporter of the left when they have to pay more taxes and be told how to run their own business.
Now NY will prolly pass a law making it illegal to have real guns with painted barrel tips.

It really is about criminalizing the thought of a gun.
I had a toy M-16A2 gun as a kid. It wasn’t full sized but it was realistic enough and it didn’t have the orange stripe on the end either.
I had been seen by the police with it many times. Myself, and a gaggle of other kids who had Tommy guns, cap pistols, Bazooka’s and a myriad of other toy weapons later including Crosman air rifles (760’s) and air pistols too.
It was nothing unusual.
Fightiing crime.
BIGTIME.

Like me you grew up in an era when cops had no realistic expectation that a child might open fire on them.
The Good Lord called it “straining at gnats and swallowing camels.”
So if you are a criminal, would it be wise to paint the tip of your gun orange so the cops will think it’s a toy and not shoot you? Just sayin....
