Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton on Monday took a giant step toward letting Democratic voters know shes representing the progressive agenda, calling for tax increases and more regulation on Wall Street -- while making a play for a liberal base that has been gravitating toward Sen. Bernie Sanders.
I know as much as anybody, the role Wall Street should play for main street, said Clinton, who vowed, if elected, to rein in excessive risks and appoint regulators to prosecute firms and individuals who break the law.
Clinton also vowed to increase taxes on large corporations and the countrys highest wage-earners, an apparent effort to recapture her partys progressive base now captivated by surging primary challenger Sanders and the reformer agenda of Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who is not a 2016 candidate.
Clinton specifically vowed to revive efforts to institute the so-called Buffet Rule, which is essentially a 30 percent millionaire tax.

She’s lying. There is no way in hell Hillary will turn her back on her biggest financial supporters. She talks big, but she will never ever tax the richest people in the country
Normally. promising to raise taxes would be the kiss of death for a candidate, but since her constituency neither works, nor pays taxes, it is "sticking it to the man".
....’raising taxes’????....really?????....”The Old Hag” is toast.............
If I didn’t know better, I’d think that the nice lady is being an opportunist.

Chelsea Clinton’s grand-daughter Petunia stated today that as part of her economic package for America, she will raise taxes on the wealthy making more than $1,000 per year.
She didn’t address the exact tax rate she would apply, but did say it would be higher than the 105% level paupers pay today.
So the vow Hillary is making in raising taxes, is it just like the vows she and Huma will be making on their wedding day?
Maybe she’d win Bernie’s people over with promises to bring things like Lenin’s Tomb and the Kremlin over here.
Few people have made MORE money on Wall Street than Hillary Clinton. And the troublesome de-regulation WAS DONE BY HER HUSBAND!!
Despite this I think the average Dem voter is dumb enough to buy her conversion.
Oh, she’ll have it both ways: She won’t raise taxes on wealth; she’ll raise them on earnings ... significantly ... and society’s parasites will rejoice!
Electing Hillary Clinton president would be like granting Satan absolution and giving him the keys to heaven!
Is she going to raise taxes on HERSELF since she is filthy rich..how about all those rich celebrities who will be voting for her, will she raise taxes on them too because I wouldn’t mind seeing 80 percent of their wealth taken away, then we will see how fast they rush to the polls to vote GOP
This woman is so painful to listen to it is hard to believe she will win the nomination. I imagine other Rats have a hard time listening to her as well. I mean she is awful.
I mean Bernie looks like (and sounds like) he was just released from an asylum and he is gaining on this woman.
It is still early.
Taxes should be lowered. Her speech today was pathetic.
IIRC, her husband ran on cutting taxes.
Of course, that was a lie too.
Not sure the banks can tolerate more regulation. They are absolutely drowning in it right now.
Wasn’t Chelsea at the Rothschild/Hilton wedding a few days ago? Yeah! Right!
I wish her the same success as Walter Mondale - who ran against Reagan using the same rhetoric.
As I recall Reagan won 49 states...
...to "rein in excessive risks" and appoint regulators to "prosecute firms and individuals" who break the law... to increase taxes on large corporations and the country's highest wage-earners... to revive efforts to institute the so-called Buffet Rule, which is essentially a 30 percent "millionaire tax."The only income tax increase we need is on the entertainment industry -- 99% rate. Everyone else should be flat-taxed, with most deductions eliminated, personal exemption of $30,000. Thanks lbryce.
