Trump leads the GOP pack this week, though few think he will win the nomination
The Republican horserace continues to be a contest of multiple candidates with frontrunners sometimes ahead by only a few points, and no one dominating the race. In this weeks Economist/YouGov Poll, businessman Donald Trump leads among Republicans, ahead of Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, Florida Senator Marco Rubio and Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker.

Ted Cruz is still way behind at 4% 1st choice.
This thread is not going to go over well with Ted Cruz fans.
We can do far worse than Trump. And probably will if the GOPe gets their way.
And I really think that Trump has a better chance of beating Hillary than any of the other GOP candidates.
As long as he is 10 or above he makes it on the stage, at which point he will rocket to the top.
Trump has had a good week, but I expect sooner or later he will implode at which point Cruz will zip to the top.
If you a Cruz fan you hope he builds a war chest and wins a game of Survivor with the likes of Huckabee, and Carson.
Like it or not, there’s a lesson here that the GOP needs to learn: Conservatives are pissed off at the way the GOP views the immigration issues and their actions to date. To me, the idea that someone can illegally walk across our boarder and then have the rights to welfare, our healthcare system, SS benefits, driver’s licenses, and possibly the right to vote is simply unbelievable. There’s a legal way to get into this country and that’s the rule of law. The GOP needs to start honoring those laws and the Constitution.
I am glad that Walker hasn’t announced yet. In fact, if I were him, I’d wait until September after all this has calmed down. Trump is doing some good but I can’t see him President.
It is all about connecting with voters and likability.
The low information voters don’t know anything about each candidate’s agenda or how intelligent they are or how conservative/liberal they are.
They said the same thing about Newt and it didn’t happen at all.
I think the way Boehner/McConnell have acted has been a great boost to Trump.
Meh. as long as he is in the top 10 and in the debate, I really don’t care where he is at right now.
I love Ted Cruz and he and Trump are my only choices. I do think Cruz has a lot of obstacles to overcome. I would rejoice if he and Trump teamed up. I think it would be an unbeatable ticket. Won’t happen but its a nice thought. Those two in the Whitehouse could actually effect real change. Or Cruz as AG or SCOTUS nominee.
Ted Cruz is still way behind at 4% 1st choice.
++++
Indeed. Probably the second largest fund raiser running 9th in this poll. It’s all name recognition and who’s in the news. Christie ahead of Cruz??? Give me a break.
Watch out for John Kasich. He will probably push Cruz to #10 and at risk for that all important first debate.
I am glad that Carly seems to be in the mix now. I want her there in the debates. She is much more important then Perry. Carly will spend the entire time bashing Hillary which needs to be done.
So you think Trump is taking Cruz voters?
If so, the recent NC poll does not back you up.
It was Rubio and Bush who dropped greatly, as Trump rose to #1
Proof that the American people are fed up to HERE with illegal immigration, want the borders closed and illegals GONE.
Cruz has @50 million ways to regain his ground.
“Few think”...who is this “few”? He can be popular enough to top the polls, but not popular enough to win a majority of votes? Some kind of logic, that.
