Argentine Jews went along with the government back in the ‘80s, when the Junta was taking citizens, a disproportionate amount of whom were Jewish, and disappearing them, later throwing them off helicopters into the ocean. Officially, this was a ‘dirty war’ against the ‘communists’ and everyone in Argentina went along with this. Presumed guilty on account of the fact that they were secretly accused and disposed of. I remember in those days trying to convince Argentinian Jews in NYC that this was a real threat to them, and how vehemently they defended the government’s misconduct. Not surprised. Chickens are coming home to roost.
