Last Thursday I returned from two weeks in Africa only to be fish-slapped with the fact that gay marriage is now law and The Dukes of Hazzard has been banned. Way to drop the ball while Im out hunting.
By the way, I shot a massive, old male lion. Someone tweet that to snaggle-toothed Ricky Gervais and lets watch him try to get me banned. Have him send his vociferations to me at dougl@kissoff.com . Gracias.
America has officially morphed into a prissy, little; over-offended brat now, hasnt it? No offense to prissy, little, over-offended brats, of course.
I, for one, hate this pusillanimous glide path brought on by the uber -sensitive thought police.
Nowadays, if the tolerant Left doesnt like someone or something, then dammit … ban it. This type of control is kind of reminiscent of the psychological vice-grip applied to the Germans by Adolf in Nazi Deutschland.
Now, before the reflexively irate critic starts to lambaste me for hypocritically bashing banners because Im a conservative and against gay marriage, let me unequivocally state that Im not against gay marriage. Nay… for the record Im pro-gay marriage as long as you dont call it marriage, I dont have to pay for it and its only between two good-looking lesbians.
Speaking of gay marriage, dont you know that divorce lawyers love this soon-to-be-new, massive client base thats about to lavishly line their soulless wallets? But I digress…
Let me see if I get this right: because some demonic dipstick shot up a church, and had a confederate flag; The Dukes of Hazzard is now banned?
Someone help me. Is this TV Land's line of reasoning?:
Dylann Roof is a murdering racist.
Dylann Roof had a confederate flag.
The Dukes Of Hazzard s car has a rebel flag on it.
Therefore, The Dukes Of Hazzard is evil?
If that is true, then so is the following…
God is love.
Love is blind.
Stevie Wonder is blind.
Therefore, Stevie Wonder is God.
Evidently, the execs of TV Land are pretty crappy at syllogisms because I have no idea how they arrived at the conclusion that Bo and Luke Dukes car is an evil influence based upon some dillweeds penchant for a particular pennant. I have three words for TV Land's deduction: Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot.
I guess Sanford & Son will be next on the chopping block because Fred relentlessly ragged on the hulking, mean and nasty Aunt Esther and, you know, because of proximity, Michelle Obama will have none of that.
Personally, I like the old, rowdy America where freedom of thought and speech reigned supreme and a respectful difference of opinion was viewed as a good thing and we werent fascistically forced to parrot or accept stuff shoved down our throats by the Nanny State or rabid special interest groups.
But then again … thats just me being a rebellious jerk.
I’ve said this once and I will say it again.....the reason is the activists didn’t see SC go the way they planned because the Christians stepped up to the plate and forgave the perp. They needed a ‘boogie man’ and jumped on the Rebel Flag this guy held in a pic......TOTALLY disregarding the fact he burned Old Glory. They wanted a riot. Didn’t happen.
Remember the so called "Jena 6"? The race baiters bussed in people from all over the country to raise a ruckus over nothing.
bussing them in is SOP
Gold’s Gym must be racist, too. /s
Gold ‘s Gym is probably issuing a cease and desist order for showing a guy who would have to work out to become a 98# weakling wearing their shirt. He is not the type of person they want to associate with.
As for the Dukes, they may have garnered the ire of the current regime for showing mere citizens regularly outwitting a politician and his law enforcement lackeys. This was merely a convenient time to press the issue.
Yeah, some rough tough rogue ain’t he.
Good observation... it is the Yankeecrat black who is giving us the most trouble.
lol....well said.
Did you know that Obama came to town, and wrote checks for $3M each to the nine survivor families? They started out as a sterling example and something had to be done about that. What would you say for $3M? Thing will likely turn bad, and Christian forgiveness may go by the wayside.
Interesting, humorous article, I like this guy’s viewpoint.
I never watched Dukes, thought it was a stupid show same as 99% of everything on TV. THe only two comedy shows I ever did like were M*A*S*H and Whose Line Is It Anyway. All the rest were just incredibly stupid...Even Mork and Mindy which was only moderately stupid.
Still, I think this idea of banning the Confederate flag and pulling he show is even more stupid. If people like it, let them watch it. That’s what freedom of choice is all about.
I only watched it a few times, when visiting someone who watched it, but I don’t remember anything racist about it, to me it was just a vehicle to show off a sexy girl and a couple of rednecks doing a bunch of car stunts. The flag on top of the car just happened to be there. I thought it was a cool design fore the car, good looking car to me except for that yukky orange color. I would have liked a blue background a lot better. Cooler looking than the bland Firebird in Smokey and the Bandit, another incredibly stupid offering from Hollyweird.
I think everyone should boycott whatever channel it was that pulled it. You like the show, you should be able to watch it. I guess now you no longer have that choice, and I think that really sucks...
One thing I never see anyone pointing out, most of the people on the south who display the Confederate flag see it as a matter of southern pride, and most have little idea what it originally signified. I’ve lived in Louisiana and Texas my whole life, I’ve seen it on bumper stickers, license plated, belt buckles, t-shirts, plastic drink cups, ceramic coffee cups, you name it. Didnt bother me a bit. Never had one myself, I basically didn’t care.
I do have an American flag though...
I don’t watch TV Land, that is the channel that pulled the reruns of Dukes of Hazzard anyway, so there is no need for me the boycott the channel. The whole thing, banning the Confederate flag, which btw I was never interested in is ridiculous and shows the mindset of the “progressives”.
