NBC is planning to announce on Thursday that Brian Williams will not return to his position as the anchor of its “Nightly News” show, four months after the network suspended him for exaggerating his role in a helicopter incident in Iraq, according to two people briefed on the discussions.
Mr. Williams is expected to move to a new role primarily at the cable news network MSNBC, probably in a breaking-news capacity in the beginning, according to one of the people.
Lester Holt, who has been filling in for Mr. Williams as anchor, will take on the position permanently, one person said.

Heh, who could have guessed? Okay, almost everybody but hey, isn’t it nice that he still has a liberal’s job? You can’t expect that NBC would actually forget about him would you?
Holt has not been able to keep the numbers up for NBC, but my guess is that they're afraid of the backlash from the left if they don't keep him. The same people who brought us Ferguson and Baltimore promised to take to the streets if anyone but Holt got the job if lyin' Brian didn't come back.
This is at best the second one. ;’)
A news anchor that made up stuff about himself should be an icon there.
The only reason they dumped Williams is because Rush said Williams was once fair in reporting Rush news. That was his kiss of death.

I coulda sworn he used to work for MSNBC way back before, reading the news if I recall correctly, way when Microsoft used to own half of MSNBC.
