Sen. Kirk and his comments could tank GOP ticket in 2016
Chicago Tribune ^ | 12 june 2015 | John Kass

If only American politics were a movie, then Sen. Mark Kirk could blurt out whatever comes to his mind.

The media would be astonished at the honesty. They'd call it endearing. Soon, Washington would speak a dead language: direct talk.

And filmgoers across the land would feel a wave of the warm and fuzzies.

But that's the movies. And Sen. Kirk knows this isn't some picture show.

Hollywood tried that blurting honestly plot with "Bulworth" and it flopped, miserably.

By now you know the issue: Kirk just blurts things out, like his already famous "bro with no ho" comment. Audio: Mic picks up Kirk 'bro with no ho' comment Audio: Mic picks up Kirk 'bro with no ho' comment

He hasn't had much of a filter on what he says in recent years. Whether that has anything to do with the stroke he suffered in 2012, I don't know. It seems he was once more cautious. Now words just pop out of there.

What’s making them even more desperate is the fact that these things just aren’t all that interesting any more. The hard left tries to make them big stories and stir people up but most as just shrugging them off these days.

Where are the GOPe calls for Kirk to step out of the race for a more “electable” candidate?

Todd Akin’s remarks were in defence of innocent life. Kirk’s remarks were just plain insensitive and stupid, and they will lead to his defeat next year. The GOPe threw Todd Akin out and destroyed his candidacy. Conservatives ought to do the same to Kirk’s campaign.

Calling Mr. Kirk.

Please return to the ‘Home’, Bingo is about to start...

Before his stroke Kirk was an Ass-Hat now even more.

Sad truth there. The Left is steamrolling the country.

We need a fearless conservative political warrior to lead us. Its going to be a long struggle.

One stray comment can destroy a politician’s career.

A lifelong pattern of deception, corruption and bribery? Not so much.

Welcome, Senator, to the Pat Robertson Club

Mark used to be my congressman.

He’s a nice man, who served our country, but a RINO. HE is certainly better than the person who previously held his seat (three guesses), but he is easy to destroy. John Madigan is preparing the ground for his daughter Lisa.

The stroke doesn’t help Mark. He’s toast.

Wow! The left is really desperate.

Cass is actually not a lefty, and is a solid reporter.

The headline refers only to the Republicans in Illinois.

I take it as Kass suggesting the GOP dump Kirk altogether, which is a GOOD thing.

Kirk is brain-damaged from a stroke.

I thought the crack about Linda was kind of funny.

Kirk is a tool of The Cheap Labor Express and should be replaced.

Kirk threw Jim Oberweis under the bus in 2014. Kirk’s rationale was he did not want to offend his good friend from across the aisle Dick Durbin. I will get a hearty laugh from Durbin playing Michael Corleone to Mark Kirk’s Fredo in the upcoming election.
