McCain, Paul scuffle amid NSA debate
The Hill ^ | May 31, 2015 | Jordain Carney

Posted on 06/01/2015 6:06:38 AM PDT by McGruff

Republican Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Rand Paul (R-Ky.) faced off late Sunday afternoon, as the Kentucky Republican tried to speak from the Senate floor about expiring provisions of the Patriot Act.

McCain and Sen. Dan Coats (R-Ind.) were speaking about the National Security Agency's (NSA) phone "metadata" collection program when Paul tried to ask a question. Coats said he had not yielded the floor to Paul, effectively blocking the 2016 presidential candidate from speaking. Coats then yielded to McCain for a question, instead.

"The senator from Kentucky needs to learn the rules of the Senate," McCain said. "Maybe the senator from Kentucky should know the rules of the Senate."

Words mean things. That's what they are for. To me “scuffle” implies some sort of physical encounter between McCain and Paul.

Was it words or fisticuffs?

You can sure tell that Rand Paul is Ron Paul’s son. Two whackos out on an Island by themselves.

Right now I fear the federal government more than I fear terrorists. The new EPA clean water power grab is yet another piece of the pie. I am not a libertarian and I am definitely NOT supporting Rand Paul for President, but I am on his side here.

We simply must drive the federal government back in a box. A good example is former Speaker Hastert. How on earth did a former teacher come up with $3 million to pay hush money? Our government is stealing our freedom, and they also are stealing us blind.

The next time the GOP calls me to ask for campaign money I will remind them that they have already stolen enough money out of the government to pay for their campaign to get re-elected to go back and steal more.

McCain feels he is one of the elite. Has lost all sense of the term...”servant of the people”.

How pompous and arrogant. The man needs to be retired.

Coats and McCain used up the Republican debate time, and when Paul requested to use five minutes from the Democratic side, McCain objected.

McLame is an arrogant senile gasbag who needs a one-way ticket to the glue factory.

Is McCain taking some time from his using the
IRS to attack conservatives, and from his
arming ISIS, and from his covering up of the
Benghazi Atrocity?

WOW.

I’d pay $5.00 to see someone—anyone—cold-cock McCain.

I wanna see a no holds barred down and dirty Cage Match. Put both of them in it and let them fight it out fist to fist. Then immediately have a second match with McConnell and Bonehead. The winner of that one goes into a final Cage Match with the winner of McCain vs Paul match. Last man standing gets 5 minutes camera time on FAUX News LOL.

This is the way I see McCain retiring.

And I see Rand Paul turning into his father.

"Who to root for?"

This quote tells it all: "Paul also tried to use a procedural tactic to overturn McCain's objection, but failed to get another senator to support his request."

I certainly wouldn't root for Paul (and all his friends).

Juan McCainez uses The Constitution as toilet paper but don't you dare defy The Rules of The Senate.

Don't make him go all Montgomery Burns on you.

This maneuver by Paul was nothing more than a campaign ploy.
Paul is his daddy’s little boy and his followers are just as looney.

Yet there are plenty of sheeple on FR who just think the govt has the right to collect your every phone call and email in order to keep everybody safe. Unbelievable but true. They love to castigate the very guy, Rand Paul who tirelessly fights for our personal freedoms. So he mixes it up with the fascist whacko Juan McStain. Good for him.

I couldn’t be in the same room with John McCain for 2 minutes without a dustup. If it was up to McStain we would all have a tattoo on our wrists.
