OPINION: Bernie Sanders is Hillary's leftward advance man
Sierra Vista Herald ^

Posted on 05/27/2015 6:09:48 AM PDT by SandRat

Is Bernie Sanders pulling Hillary Clinton to the Left? No, for the same reason a canoe doesn’t pull an aircraft carrier.

The Vermont socialist running in the Democratic presidential race is currently at 7.4 percent in the RealClearPolitics average of national polls, versus Clinton’s 64.2 percent. Clinton is in fact moving leftward on issues like immigration, gay marriage, inequality and more, but it’s not because she’s feeling the heat from a little-known competitor.

Still, Sanders is staking out a role as the forward scout of the Democratic Left,

Bernie is ‘running interference’ for Hillary, in that by being so FAR LEFT, the she looks centrist by comparison..................

Don’t know why Sanders has to do this. When Hillary was in the Senate she was just as far to the left as Sanders, just without the title of Socialist.

The only reason I can thunk of why Sanders is running is to make Hillary look like a moderate while holding the base together.

Her party has moved ten paces to the Left since her husband was POTUS. Hillary has no choice but to run Left. The center of that party is now Elizabeth Warren.

I’m starting to think Sanders is a bigger threat than we think. He has the rhetoric nailed, appealing big time to the gibmedat bloc - which, remember, is half the population. He just cuts right past the caution & naysaying and declares the way things should be, deftly side-stepping how it will be achieved.

Between the skeletons falling out of her closet, the fact that she’s at least pragmatic enough to recognize unicorns don’t fart rainbows on demand (and that money for “debt-free tuition” has nowhere to come from), and by all appearances she views Inauguration as a finish line, her sure-thing chances seem dwindling fast.

Beware Sanders as a “dark horse”: far-Left extremist spewing exactly what a very large potential voting bloc wants to hear. Free $#!^ draws more support than “what’s mine isn’t yours” and “he who will not work, neither shall he eat”. The Obama won - twice - via a voting bloc that won’t likely support the Tea Party candidate; Sanders can re-inspire the “gibmedat” and inspire the Left base to come out in force where Hillary! will inspire them to stay home.

Bernie is nothing but Killary’s stalking horse!

The DNC is setting it up so that Killary can point at Bernie and say, “See, I’m not all that left wing, I’m NOT a communist pycho...look over there!”

That is ALL Bernie is doing! He is giving Killary cover so the LIV (low information voters) can have an excuse for pulling the lever for a douche bag like Killary! At night they can rest each knowing that at least she isn’t as crazy and stupid as Bernie.

That is Bernie’s entire purpose for running; nothing more, nothing less!

His job is to make the former Twelfth Lady look moderate to swing voters. If she wins next year he’ll be handsomely rewarded...perhaps as CEO of the Clinton Foundation Shakedown Scam.

That’s my take as well - he’s in the race to make her look sane.

She would need not only Bernie, but Sheila Jackson Lee, Cynthia McKinney AND Alan Grayson to run against to make her look sane.........

Do you think Bernie likes Hillary? I sure don’t. I don’t think he likes her at all. Why would he do anything to help her? What is his payoff?

I just don’t see it. I think he sincerely believes what he says. He has never hidden his socialism. He seems quite proud of it.

From the article: “Under Sanders’ plan, college would be free for all, everywhere, paid for by the government in a program Sanders estimates would cost taxpayers more than $70 billion a year, or somewhere around $750 billion over the next decade.”

Would someone on the left please explain to me how this would be “free for all” if it would “cost the taxpayers more than $70 billion a year”?????????

I agree, I think Bernie actually thinks he might win. And SADLY, in America, where Obama won twice, I'm not 100% certain that he CAN'T win!

However, we are talking about the DNC! They tell their candidates what type of underwear they are allowed to purchase and wear. So, with that, why would the DNC allow this avowed Socialist to enter the race?

To be Killary's stalking horse. I think the DNC really believes in Killary and her chances, but they want something to base her "I'm a middle of the road Democrat" persona that she is already trying to exude!

That's my opinion.

His initials are BS, gotta love the “rusty” irony! He supports a 90% tax on the “wealthy”... probably futile but at least tell the idiots if he doesn’t respect the 1%’s property, he won’t respect yours either.

Bernie and Ms Warren have the assignments to make Billary APPEAR more “moderate”.

I don’t believe that, his bid may ultimately help her or it may not, but there is no reason beyond general conspiracy theorizing to think he’s working for her. The far far left genuinely does not want Hillary, he is their champion.
