An investigation into the death of Baltimore resident Freddie Gray has found no evidence that his fatal injuries were caused during the videotaped arrest and interaction with police officers, according to multiple law enforcement sources.

If Gray’s fellow rider said there was no rough ride, then Gray’s injuries are his own doing. I would imagine if this was a ‘rough ride’, that would’ve been the FIRST comment out of the other prisoner’s mouth.
There was another prisoner in the van. Did he sustain any injuries?
If Fred’s were due to a rough ride, why was the other prisoner unharmed?

Did you see that arrest record? Of course he was mentally nuts, pretty much by definition. You can’t eat that much chemistry and claim sanity. But I still say his legs were dead when the two bicycle cops picked him up off the ground. His history of lead/meth/dope could have made him really really calcium deficient such that there wasn’t much left to break in his scrawny neck. And did you notice his toothless mom? She was probly his best customer?
You should know by now a media “report” does not a fact make.

I would think so, too. I also read that the identity of the prisoner is being kept secret because he fears for his life.
That information was provided by a less than reputable source. And a FReeper already debunked it using court records.
From the article: “Details surrounding exactly what caused Gray to slam into the back of the van was unclear. The officer driving the van has yet to give a statement to authorities. It’s also unclear whether Gray’s head injury was voluntary or was a result of some other action.”
Add to that the statement by another prisoner in the van that he was beating himself around intentionally trying to go for a “police brutality” charge.
We’ll see if it turns out the other prisoner is lying or not.

I was wondering this. Maybe the other guy got sick of an “irate” Gray and kicked his arse during the ride. “He hurt himself” being his explanation afterwards.
...and they have not interviews the cop(s)?! The guy has apparent bolt imprint on his head when bounced off the back door breaking his neck on a 45-minute ride a few blocks to jail. They should all be under arrest for murder. How can anyone not conclude the cops and others are not trying to cover this all up?
Sure, or going through a spasm from a injury. Or trying to get attention to help with his injuries he was already complaining about. It is all speculation at this point.
So are the street thugs going to return the sneakers they stole and help rebuild the CVS?
Are they going to pay for the cop cars they burned?

I definitely agree that there is no reason to trust what the police or the family attorney say at this point.
Personally, I am awaiting the autopsy report.
However, when I first heard of this incident I became aware at that time that his spinal cord was severed in 4 places and his voice box was crushed. I heard Megyn Kelly say those words on her show.
So at that time I made an assumption that spinal cord referred to the entire length of the spine, and at that point I began to try and envision in my mind how such injuries could occur to a person being arrested or placed in a van. It seemed like it would take an awful lot of trauma to do that, and I became suspicious of police in this matter at this time.
But if one considers that these 4 spinal cord injuries, assuming that 4 is the correct number were in the neck area, and there is evidence that he did try to injure himself intentionally inside the van, taking into account the statement of the other arrestee in the van, and GPS data which allegedly shows that speeds were normal, and the autopsy report of a wound on his head form the latch inside the van, then it does become easier for me to see that it is possible that he did this to himself.
I do wonder if there are others besides me who also assumed that the spinal cord injuries were in his back as opposed to his neck.
“Police say Gray died of a “significant spinal injury.” An attorney for the family says his spine was “80 percent severed in the neck area.” An autopsy has been done, and while the findings have not been released, police say no bodily injury was evident during the post mortem and no limbs were broken.”
Also, I really appreciate your posting this above information. I had not seen this before just now either.
