A British Muslim politician is on the receiving end of things after she told her social media followers that she would never support Labour leader Ed Miliband because he is a Jew.
A few years ago, something like this quite simply could not have happened. That was back when anti-Semites understood that society didnt want to have anything to do with them. So what did they do? They hid, pretending they were open-minded and tolerant.
In the last couple of years, however, everything has changed in Europe, at least. Now, European anti-Semites most of them Muslim immigrants or their children believe its perfectly fine for them to spew their hatred.
Case in point, Tory (thats a conservative!) council candidate Gulzabeen Afsal. Shes a supporter of conservative Prime Minister David Cameron, but was recently challenged by one of her Facebook followers as to why she didnt support the Labour Party led by Social Democrat Miliband. Afsals response? No way she could ever support that Jew!
The exchange began when Afsal wrote on her Facebook page: Just cant take Mr Ed Milliband seriously!! DC (David Cameron) has what it takes to be the future PM.
When a respondent suggested that Afsal should have some respect for the future PM, she responded: Nah bro! never ever will I drop that low and support the al yahud [Arabic for Jew] lol.

Is this really anti-Semitism? Is this not the same as many on Freerepublic saying not to Romney explicitly because he was Mormon? Or what of us, myself included, that would never vote for a Muslim? I ask because I think the accusation of anti-Semitism is over used to beat down discussion, which makes the label less meaningful.

It's funny that using the collective "Jews" if fine, but calling a single person a Jew is somehow anti-Semitic. It all comes down to the emphasis, real or perceived the person puts on the word. "He's a Jew" vs. "He's a Jew"

As a non-native English speaker I have discover it is typically the better choice to describe someone as “Jewish” (or whatever-ish) if the word works like that.
For example, “He’s a Scot.” sounds harsher than “He’s Scottish.”

It has been posted previously on FR that Minister Miliband had declared that "Islamaphobia" should have new and special laws enacted to make it a criminal offence. I went to Google to confirm. The Muslim News in England posted an interview with Editor Ahmed J.Versi and Mr Miliband recently. The minister emphasised his intention to enact laws to criminalize so-called Islamaphobia.
As a Jewish person, he should now know what is only too evident. This is that the more accommodation, the more consideration given to certain adherents of Islam, the more contempt. The contempt for those who grovel and supplicate in their behaviour should be obvious. The militant Islamists only respect the "strong horse".
Shades of Lord Allenby, whose forces destroyed the forces of the Ottoman Empire in 1917.

Local Pols pressing the flesh at a local restaurant a few years ago and one would not ID his party affiliation. "It doesn't matter at the local level" he said.
I answered with "I spent the first 20 years of my adult life defending this nation from Marxist Socialism so it damned well matters to me."
My table was avoided by DemonRatz after that.

‘Minister’ Milliband? Milliband is not yet a minister of any description, although he did briefly hold ministerial office in the last Labour government.

oh, and one more thing, from the "2014 predictions" thread, thanks Perdogg:
- David Cameron, UK Prime Minister
- will repair his reputation in 2014
- will lead the Tories to an outright victory in 2015
- many will scoff at these particular predictions
