Senate Leadership Stabs Gun Owners in the Back

McConnell shuts down the pro-gun filibuster of Lynch

Given the votes that were there against Lynch, McConnell hatched a plan to ensure she would be confirmed with no difficulty.

First, McConnell brought up her nomination -- even though he, alone, could have stopped Lynch's confirmation by refusing to move to proceed to her. Then, McConnell filed what’s known as a “cloture petition” to shut down the pro-gun filibuster. Finally, the effects of leadership strong-arming were evidenced by the fact that several Republicans flipped their votes (a.k.a., lied) and voted to shut down the pro-gun filibuster -- in a move called “cloture.”

Many of the fifteen senators on this Liars' List had openly committed to gun owners that they would oppose Lynch. And they did oppose her on the 56-43 final passage vote -- when their votes didn’t matter.

But, like a beaten and battered woman, you WILL vote for them, because a vote for anyone but the GOP candidate is a vote for Hitlery, and the Republicans are "better" than the democrats, or something...

OF course what’s really “funny” is that the Democrats are saying the same thing, just different names: most of ‘em hate Her Royal Thighness, but a vote against her would be a vote for Rubio/Cruz/Bush .....

I told anyone who would listen that the Nation would be better off if we helped the Democrat to take that seat away from McConnell.

Events just keep proving the wisdom of what I advised.

Lynch, like her predecessor Holder and her master 0bama is an enemy of the Constitution of the United States.

McConnell and the Gang of 10 Republicans who voted confirm Lynch are just as much the enemy as Reid, Schumer and Obama. Do not let them talk you out of it. Ted Cruz was right when he said that the GOP leadership confirmed Lynch because they wanted her.

Yep. To run their poxy war on conservatives and Constitutionalists.

When the GOP leadership is actively assisting the Dems, paranoia is just prudent thinking.

I am resolved to:
1.) vote only for true conservatives.
2.) never vote for a RINO, even if it results in a victory for a Democrat.
3.) deny political power to all RINOs

They are WORSE,because they know better, and opted for evil.

Agree, if your level of evil includes betrayal.

They were elected and assumed leadership positions on their oath that they would make an effort to provide an effective opposition party and defend the constitution against domestic enemies.

That they have made only minimal and patently weak efforts and more often refused to engage at all on our behalf, may very well lead to our nation's defeat by socialists/totalitarians.

The Senate never changed the rules from the last Senate on the filibuster.

Therefore, while there was a “cloture vote”, the number of votes necessary to pass that was only 50, not 60. Since there were 5 republicans who had already said they were going to vote FOR Lynch, there was little under the current rules that would stop it.

There was never a chance for a filibuster, unless the senate first had a vote on changing the filibuster rules to re-instate the 60-vote threshold for presidential nominees.

Not yet they proclaim, we must stop Hillary!(insert latest boogey man).

I don’t get these people who claim to be of a conservative philosophy but so easily vote for people they know are progressives and opposed to everything they profess to believe in because they have an (R) in front of their names. Then they try and rationalize their support and votes for people they know are liberals and when their masters behavior comes into open conflict with public votes against these “conservative voters” beliefs they go into a defensive denial mode.

And like a mind numbed robot they will suppress common sense and logic and leap to defend their Republican overlords to the death and trot out like the dutiful battered wife, and pull the straight (R) ticket every two and four years, then complain the (R’s) don’t listen to me, maybe next year they will.

They are actually more pitiful than liberal democrats because they know better and yet still play the part of the dutiful slavish constituents.
