Urbandale, Iowa (CNN)Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker hit back Saturday at potential GOP presidential rival Marco Rubio over the Florida senator's charge that there's "no way" a governor can be ready for president when it comes to foreign policy.
"I think he's questioning how Ronald Reagan was ready," the Wisconsin Republican told reporters after speaking at an event for Iowa Rep. David Young in Urbandale.
Walker argued that, in his lifetime, Reagan "was the most impactful" president on foreign policy, while President Barack Obama "shows as a first-term senator, (he) isn't prepared to lead, or at least is not in the case of Barack Obama."
"I think governors innately have the ability to lead. We are every day required to use our Cabinet to make decisions, not just give speeches," he continued. "Not to just travel to foreign places but to ultimately make decisions based on using top talent in our Cabinet and our management team."
Walker made similar remarks in his speech earlier Saturday, arguing that leadership matters more than experience.
"I'm not saying being a senator or a governor makes you better or worse automatically, 'cause Jimmy Carter was a governor and he wasn't that great either," Walker said. "But what it's about is leadership."

Senator Rubio felt it necessary to take a poke at Walker today in Iowa and Senator Cruz did yesterday over immigration during a campaign swing through Las Vegas. Gov. Walker's response to Sen. Cruz.
Scott Walker has been in Iowa, Airing LIVE Saturday, Apr 25 6:00pm EDT on C-SPAN.org - Faith and Freedom Coalition's "Spring Kick-Off" speeches.
Explain Abraham Lincoln then.
Are you going to watch their speeches?
It begins in about 10 minutes.
Where is the quote you allege.
Sen. Cruz has said nothing but nice things about the others.
liz warren battling soetoro, and chamber of commies battling tea party on secret TPP trade deal. Cruz and paul ryan point men for chamber of commies

1865 to 2015...no comparison. However, I say God Bless Scott Walker. A truly gifted leader who will do our country proud.
Sen. Rubios critique of Walker not only ignores the federal governments constitutionally limited powers, misguided Rubio an excellent example why the 17th Amendment should never have been ratified imo, but also that the failed Obama Administration is run by a former senator.
The 17th Amendment needs to disappear.
Are we in the middle of a civil war and I missed it?

Cruz has been nasty to Walker. I am not sure why you missed that.
When I was promoting Duncan Hunter (not here) back in 2008 I was told Congressmen aren’t elected President..........
There are liars all over the place.
You seem to since you mentioned Abe Lincoln as an example of a Senator who became President. I was pointing out that a Senator is 1865 is vastly different then one today. No comparison. The last Senator Republicans had was a one term disaster and the one before that resigned. The last Republican Governor was decent and the one before him saved the World. Who would you go with?
I just want a President who will stop the invasion.
Rubio isn’t going to do that.
Bush won’t for sure.
They both have lots of experience, at promoting bad policies.
Walker and Cruz should simply be NOT responding to challenges of unfitness or any other negative claims from Democrats or from other Republicans. The less they respond the less chance there is that they will find themselves “explaining” or “apologizing” for something or saying something that will be trumpeted as an apology. Any hint of an apology will kill a candidacy and any hint of explaining will be taken for an apology by the MSM. Nor should these two attack other conservatives or Republicans in general. That gets them balled up in those attacks and the election is focused on the attacks and not on the candidates’ policies.
Hi Naps.
You are very intelligent, so why dont you read the article
instead of the title.
It says:
“The headline to this story is ridiculous and in no way matches what Senator Cruz actually said. The Senator was discussing his own views on immigration and had nothing to do with Governor Walker.”
Also the article was written by the spouse of someone
who WORKS WITH WALKER.
That makes Walker a slime-ball.
Lincoln was a success for the reasons many republicans are successful. They hold the moral high ground. But you can't say he was an executive success.
Abraham Lincoln was never a Senator, Chief. He was a one-term member of the House of Representatives and a well-regarded attorney.
To repeat:
Why dont you read the article instead of the title.
It says:
The headline to this story is ridiculous and in no way matches what Senator Cruz actually said. The Senator was discussing his own views on immigration and had nothing to do with Governor Walker.
Also consider the source:
Also the article was written by the spouse of someone
who WORKS WITH WALKER.
That makes Walker a slime-ball.
LBJ had no problem winning in 1964, or were you referring to 1968, when he didn’t even run?
Two words, Rubio, you idiot: Ronald Reagan. /spit
