An Arctic death spiral? An Antarctic meltdown? Maybe not, according to the latest global sea ice data that shows the Arctic retreating while simultaneously the Antarctic is gaining.
The phenomenon was noted by climate scientist Dr. Roger Pielke, Sr., who tweeted out a chart of sea ice levels showing that while Arctic sea ice levels may be low, sea ice from the south pole is booming, leading to a resurgence of global sea ice levels to well above normal.

That’s why they call it Global Climate Change instead of Global Warming these days. So they can win the argument no matter what the weather does.
If you were to listen to a globull warming alarmist you would think that there never had been a flood or drought or tornado or hurricane or hot or cold weather before about 1980.
Also notice we’re always breaking records...hottest summer ever recorded...coldest winter on record...
Our records only go back so far, planet has been around for four of five billion years...records go back to the 1800s.
Climate change is an ideology more than anything the else. These folks are watermelons...green on the outside, red on the inside.
I am pretty sure Canada set some temperature records back during the Jurassic Period, when the whole planet earth was a hot rainforest and Dinosaurs walked on it!
If I am not mistaken...its summer in the Northern Hemisphere and corresponding Winter in the South....
So as usual in summer the Arctic retreats...
and by golly
the Antarctic gains....
Amazing...but not unexpected.
Many years ago there were glaciers covering much of what is now temperate areas. When the “scientists “ incorporate an explanation for that that into their global warming “science” I’ll start believing them.
Want to see them go into overload? Just ask them these:
1. Define the correct temperature range for the planet.
2. Define the correct humidity range for the planet.
3. Define the correct mean sea level for the planet
4. Define the correct amount of precipitation for the planet.
5. Define the correct makeup of the atmosphere.
6. Define the correct amount of sea ice at the N/S poles.
7. Define/explain past glaciation and subsequent warming without any input from humans.
That should all be easy enough to do.
The asymmetry between the Arctic and the Antarctic always stood as a falsification challenge to AGW theory. No greenhouse gas driven theory can explain cooling near the south-pole even is mean global temperature is increasing.
There is one anthropogenic climate change theory that does: soot from Chinese and Russian coal-fired power plants decreasing the albedo of the Arctic ice pack. Of course getting the Duma and the Chicom central committee to pass analogues of the Clean Air Act doesn’t serve the interests of the left, so this theory gets as little attention as the recent advances in cosmoclimatology do. The newsletter for the Institute for Advanced Study this month had a nice piece on further confirmation of cosmic rays and cosmic ray modulation by solar magnetism as a major driver of climate change (in the English meaning of the phrase, not the Newspeak version).

Imagine that. It gets colder at the south pole while it gets warmer at the north pole.
Who would have thought?
