Pinker (and BHO) have a point in that forced relocations of whole populations and ethnic/ religious groups have been occurring at a rapid pace over the past 40-50 years, such that certain parts of the world are now denuded of the troublesome enemy. 40 years ago we were evacuating from South Vietnam. The fighting was still going on, among the Vietnamese at least, much like the Taliban in Afghanistan today. In Cambodia, Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge were beginning their reign of terror and genocide, about like ISIS. Not much to choose between now and forty years ago violence wise. It certainly is arguably no better today than it was then.
