Cruz to Adam Carolla: "The Rich Have Done Well Under Big Government"; Young People Are...
Real Clear Politics ^ | 4/17/15

Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz phoned in on Friday's broadcast of the Adam Carolla Show to discuss his candidacy, the IRS and taxes, big government, his father's America compared to our current America, Jeb Bush and more.

ADAM CAROLLA: Thank you so much for calling in and thank you so much for wanting to eliminate the IRS. It's driving me nuts.

SEN. TED CRUZ: Well, I tell you April 16th is a day when a whole lot of folks want to move into a simple flat tax and just padlock the IRS. I think that is a powerful populist issue and today is the day when its on people's minds.

ADAM CAROLLA: Well, if you want to talk about an issue, and here we are always talking about gay rights, or immigration, or whatever it is, the trans-gender community or something, fine. But that doesn’t impact the entire country.

This impacts literally everyone who is born in this country so it is a good place to start, in terms of policy. Senator, you tell me. It seems really weird when politicians get caught up in nothing and they’re missing sort of the big picture, why do they do that?

SEN. TED CRUZ: Well a lot of the time what politicians are trying to do it to distract the voters with smoke and mirrors. Rather than talk about the issues that really matter to their lives.

Yes, they have. Which is why they keep pouring billions into both Parties to keep Big Government rolling along.

I wish Ted Cruz would hold some sort of internet town hall so we can ask some questions of our own.

The elites have done quite well after Nixon ended international convertibility of the US Dollar to gold in 1971.

"too many are getting hammered instead of going out and getting a damn job"

What "job" might that be bigbob, and how many of those "jobs" would it take for a young individual to support him or herself? I'm asking because you seem to have the answers down pat.

I can vouch for Carrolla, he’s a good dude (F bombs are part of his sentences, but that’s OK) and I met him a couple of times here in L.A. If anyone is wondering why the Man Show with him and Jimmy Kimmel was cancelled, there’s a story to that too.

"Talking to Americans like adults"

He's talking out of both sides of his mouth.

First there is announcement that Robert Mercer will be contributing huge sums. Then there are the 4 PACs: Keep the Promise, Keep the Promise 2, Keep the Promise 3, and Keep the Promise 3.

These are the rich who have done very well under big govt and will be supporting Cruz.

No doubt he will set up system that enables you to contribute 50 bucks, but your 50 bucks ain't gonna get him elected.

They had two other guys hosting the show for a season. One was Joe Rogan. Kimmel had left to ABC.

I like Ted and I plan on supporting him. At the same time, there are some things that bother me in his presentation.

The top 1% income earners in the United States pay an awesome percentage of the total tax burden. Can we quit playing this asinine game of targeting how well the rich do during hard times? This is nothing more or less than class warfare rhetoric. It is unfitting for a Conservative to incorporate this into their talking points.

The well to do employ others. Are we to adopt the idea that if the top 1% were less successful, it would be better for the middle class and poor? If that’s the idea, it’s a fool’s game.

When addressing who is doing poorly in the United States, it is insulting to watch folks mention Hispanics and Blacks.

Poor is poor, and these two groups do not have a lock on poverty. It is extremely insulting for Whites to be left out of the conversation while the speaker addresses these two ethnic groups by name.

If you want to be the candidate of the people, please address ALL the people.

Senator Cruz, I thought you said you wanted to be the candidate for the people. If that really is your plan, can you quite overlooking the majority of the people?

Just how many Black votes do you expect to get, that you would address them and not Whites? Just damn!

Even though Ted Cruz is my top canadate of choice, I will go on record to say I have a few points of disagreement with Ted Cruz.

First one is, ALL of us are getting hammered in Obama’s Hillary’s economy... Young and old and in between...
All of us are suffering from a out of control government with over taxation, oppressive regulation of business.

Ted Cruz ?

It’s the Rich Wealthy LIBERAL DEMOCRATS that are doing well and benifiting from Big Government..

From what was told directly to me by one of the former production managers, Kimmel had a big ego. Adam wrote most of the skits, like 80% of it, which is a big chunk. Kimmel deferred to his assistants right after the second season which irritated AC.

The same thing also was told to me by another of dave Chapelle’s former assistants. After season 2, he just got scared and surprised about the popularity that he hired an extra TEN writers, which watered down the skits.
