Families of Jacob Fritz, Johnathan Chism and Shawn Falter claim Tehran orchestrated retaliatory attack
The families of three American soldiers killed during a brazen attack in Iraq are suing the Iranian government for allegedly orchestrating the raid.
Filed late Monday in US District Court in Washington, the lawsuit says Lt. Jacob Fritz, Specialist Johnathan Chism, and Private First Class Shawn Falter were taken prisoner and then murdered in January 2007 by Iranian-backed Hezbollah agents and the Khazali network, an Iraqi militant group also funded and trained by Iran.
The lawsuit says Iran directed the assault on the provincial headquarters in Karbala as retaliation for the arrest of Iranian agents operating in Iraq by US forces.
The attack 50 miles (80 kilometers) south of Baghdad was one of the boldest and most sophisticated during eight years of warfare in Iraq. Gunmen posed as a US security team to get past the headquarters checkpoint manned by Iraqi police. They traveled in black SUVs, had American-style weapons, wore US military combat fatigues, and spoke English.
Once past the checkpoint, several of the gunmen got out of the SUVs and spoke with Falter and Chism, who were on guard, and then headed into the headquarters. They shot the two soldiers as they passed by. Both were taken wounded but alive, the lawsuit said. They resisted capture as best they could despite their injuries.
Fritz and another Army officer were captured in one of the compound’s offices after the gunmen fired their weapons and threw a grenade. The family of the other officer is not part of the lawsuit.
The attackers fled with their captives and headed east toward the Iranian border, according to the complaint. They were handcuffed in pairs and shot.
Zero released them in July 2009.

This attack was January 20, 9 days after the Irbil Five (5 Iranian agents) were captured.
Looks like a straight up, 5 for 5 “revenge” attack, yet Zero released the Iranian 5 in his first months in office!
Maybe not, but the timing of this lawsuit (filed on the day of Iran talks deadline) is interesting.
On January 20, 2007, just nine days after the Irbil five were captured, a team of twelve men disguised as U.S. soldiers entered the Provincial Joint Coordination Center in Karbala, where U.S. soldiers conducted a meeting with local officials. They kidnap five US soldiers. All five are later killed. Within a week, investigators have a suspect “this raid appears to have been directed and executed by the Qods Force branch of the Iranian Republican Guard Corps.”

I like to think I got in before the apologists for Iran started bitching, but I didn't have the heart to check.
“Incredibly, just 11 days after the Karbala raid, the NY Times runs an editorial insisting that President Bush stop trying to “bully” Iran. Twelve days later the Telegraph reports that 100 50 caliber sniper rifles, originally sold to Iran, have turned up in Iraq. The rifles cost $20K each.”

Iranians and Iranian support got around 1700 of our men killed, or at least that’s what I was reading.
releasing them was not Obama fault. Trust me I have no love for obama, but this is not on him. I wish I could put the truth out about this whole thing but I cant. Let me just say I know the whole story along with a room full of a few others. So much the American people will never know about what went on during this war.
if it makes anyone feel a little better, I will say that when captured and hooded khazali accidentally walked into a pole or too. I wish I could say more but I can’t sorry, it is an interesting story.
