ENGLEWOOD, Fla. — That massive alligator is back on a golf course, and he appears to be hungry. Myakka Pines Golf Club in Englewood posted photos of the gator the staff calls “Goliath” (good name for him) on the golf course’s Facebook page. This time, the big guy is apparently in the process of devouring a turtle.

Alligators used to sun themselves in sand traps on my parents’ course. As a rule, they can be considered loose impediments.

I had a friend who spent his off hours pitching marshmallows to the alligators sunning themselves on the Hillsborough river where it runs through the FSU golf course. When golfers hit a ball to within sight of the river it would erupt in froth as dozens of gators surged up and swallowed the ball. You should have seen the expressions on the golfers.

If your ball is in the same hazard as the loose impediment, however, you can’t move the impediment and still play the ball where it was.

But again if you can shoo it away (as with noise or other non contact means) maybe you can play the ball. I do not know if golf has an animals rule.

This old boy was waltzing down the fairway the other day. Golfers just stopped play and let him ‘play through’. Payed the golfers no attention.

Several years ago we were playing a course outside Miami and I hit a ball into the trap. As I was walking to my ball, someone suggested I leave it there and play another. As I got closer to my ball I saw what he was talking about, dropped a ball and played from there.

On the next hole, we teed off and as we were walking down the fairway we saw a duck waddling about by the water. Saw a big splash and then no duck. The third hole was played at the bar......

If a neighbor attacked my little dog while on a leash walk, I could probably shoot him and be within my rights. But if an alligator attacks my dog and I shoot him, I go directly to jail. Being politically correct around an alligator the size of this one is, though well-intended, stupid and dangerous. I live in a senior gated community with 11 foot Gators in the back yard. It is just a matter of time, then the same libs will say, “oh my, we really should so something about the gators.” Why give a potential killer fame and glory with Facebook? When a human killer is exposed, they take the page down. (germanwings)

Many years ago my wife and I were taking a canoe trip down a spring fed Withlacoochee River, took a hard turn and come upon a gator lying on a sand bank about that big...

He had bleached out white, I thought he was dead or dying ...

But in reality the mud on him dried out and turned white...

We were literally 2 or 3 feet away when he lifted his massive head and started eyeballing us...

My wife still won't forgive me for scaring the crap out if her..LOL...

Since “Goliath” is worth something like $40 per foot, all they need to do is call a Swamp People. Within a week he will be tanned and fried.

I had read that gators eat golf balls because it helps their digestion.

True fact?
