Mayor Bill de Blasio Thursday urged the city's private businesses to pay their workers at least $13 an hour -- almost 50 percent more than the state minimum wage.

Let's say you own a small pizza joint in NY with 10 employees currently making $10 per hour.
gross wages 208k
FICA $15,912
FUTA$1,050
SUTA$$4,226.25
WCINS$3,161.60
Total EE cost $232,349.85
now $13/hr
Gross Wages $270,400
FICA $20,685.60
FUTA$1,050
SUTA$$4,226.25
WCINS$$4,110.08
Total EE cost $300,471.93
Increase cost to business $68,122.08 Going to have to sell a hell of a lot of pizza to make that up! But we all know the cost per slice is going up!

I love idiots who would have failed a basic economics class telling everyone else what to do.

But what do you expect from a man who hides from his real name and increased NYC’s murder rate by 20%

Hey, Wilhelm, guess where I won’t be spending the precious little disposable income that I have.

Jerk!!

Lets see, sticking with the food business, lets raise the labor costs of fast food restaurants up to the same level as regular restaurants. Thus who would eat at McDonalds if it costs the same as Applebees for example. McDonalds then goes the way of Blockbuster and then everybody in that segment losses their jobs.

Debasio explained the people should be able to at least afford a pack of cigarettes, which cost that much because we raised the taxes up the ying yang on them.

Win-win as far as the big-government/big-union/big-corporate crony-fascist complex is concerned.

How correct you are. My dad once had a union delegate admit the same to him. My dad asked him that if he got what he wanted the little contractors would be driven out of business. The union guy replied, your right, we do not want to negotiate with hundreds of different outfits, we just want to negotiate with two or three only.
