It obviously didn't stop him from getting a firearm and shooting you and others. So what is the point of requiring background checks except to feel warm and fuzzy and employ government workers?
I own an eeeevilll GLOCK 42 also. I have a Colorado ccw (chp here) and am backgrounded every time i buy a weapon. Why would a carry license exempt you from that? BTW ohio doesn’t even recognize my Colorado carry permit.

I don’t get it - he apparently bought a weapon after a background check and shot her with it..... She’s fine with that? If nothing showed up on his background check that he was a bit touched in the head, why would she want those loose or whatever background checks imposed on everyone?

The “background check” is about one thing, and one thing only: registration of gun-owners and their guns.

Background checks don’t make bullets less lethal. Background checks are not a crystal ball into the future.
Driver’s licenses don’t make cars less lethal.
Constitutional rights are not back ground dependant. They are either rights, or they are privileges.
Multiple laws on multiple books, in multiple states, counties, towns, villages, and cities exist to prosecute injuries, attacks, and murders of people whether the crimes are committed with hands, weapons, or other ordinary every day items including ropes, automobiles, glass bottles, gasoline, and anything else one can dream up.
It truly doesn’t matter whether or not a person is registered to use a hidden gun, or one hanging from the side of a holster in plain view. The lethality of the bullet once it exists the gun remains unchanged.
The problem with injuring others isn’t just a mental thing, it’s a spiritual thing as well. It can’t be measured or predicted.
You will find that the libertarians will constantly repeat claims about pot smokers that are simply not true. Libertarians have a dogma, and they don't want any contradictory facts to distract from their message.
They use the usual same slogan of the Govt should not infringe, but ask them about age of consent, drugs, incest, homosexual marriage, immigration, military and their argument makes them sound far left nuts.

And that is the salient difference between libertarians and conservatives. Conservatives are wise enough to realize that the Fiscal system cannot be separated from the underlying Social system.
