How desperate is the media for Scott Walker attack pieces? So desperate itll pick up material from a third-rate Gawker blog that even most of the left thinks is a joke and run with it.
The Daily Beast has retracted an article from one of its college columnists that claimed that the Wisconsin governors budget would cut sexual assault reporting from the states universities.
The post, published Friday, cited a report from Jezebel that wrongly interpreted a section of the state budget to mean that all assault reporting requirements were to get cut altogether.
In fact, the University of Wisconsin system requested the deletion of the requirements to get rid of redundancy, as it already provides similar information to the federal government, UW System spokesman Alex Hummel told The Associated Press on Friday.
At least, unlike the New York Times, they got Walkers name right and they got the date right. Baby media steps.
"In hindsight, perhaps the headline Scott Walker Needs An Eraser wasnt the best idea.
In a recent column about the Wisconsin governor, a conservative Republican, New York Times columnist Gail Collins wrote that Walker had cut state aid to education, causing teacher layoffs in 2010. But Walker didnt take office until 2011.
Whoops........"
We have FReepers doing the same to Walker.
[FR Post] Scott Walker Stands By Claim Reagan's Union-Busting Was 'Most Significant' Foreign Policy Decision
Reagan and Union Busting - they're having fits.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth Warren is hailed as being on fire. The MSM is ignoring her history of lies and not finding out how she became so wealthy
FReepers manufacturing lies about Walker? Doubtful. Likely reasonable objections. Don’t get me wrong. I like Walker when he’s not boasting.
There are several NEW “FReepers” making the rounds on FR to bash Walker and praise other GOP candidates [which they will no doubt attack once they knock down those in the lead].
I smell some rats. Some use over the top language that fits in with what their idea of what Tea Party Americans sound like.
[This remark isn’t aimed at long-term FReepers supporting their candidate - which is just fine.]
They’ll try picking off any candidate that starts to surge.
Examples?
He is not faultless or perfect. Genuine criticism on the one or two issues he needs to be right on for conservatives, isn’t manufacturing lies.
New accounts are always potentially trolls and need to be watched. Luckily someone here will notice and point it out, and it will be dealt with.
While I am suspicious about what Walker’s personal definition of what Amnesty really means to him and want to hear more specificity from him. There is a lot of misinformation about him and downright journalistic dereliction going on with respect to him.
In this case, all colleges and universities are required by the Jeanne Clery Act to report violence on campuses (or around them when nearby) in seven different crime categories (sex offenses among them). Enforced by the US Department of Education. So it is very reasonable that a system might try to streamline duplicate efforts.
Nate Cohn at the NYT see's Walker's strength [then counsels him to dispel questions about his fumbles]. I would never take advice from a liberal.
Political Calculus: A Fumble and Some Punts: Attention Turns to Scott Walker the Campaigner ".......My review of Mr. Walkers television advertisements; debates; newspaper and television interviews; and speeches shows that he can be a candidate who deftly deflects and reframes tough questions. On that basis, it seems right to assume that Mr. Walker is less prone to an implosion than past Republicans who have surged in the polls, like Rick Perry, the former Texas governor. As Ive mulled his chances over the last few years, my main question has been whether Mr. Walker would break out, not whether he could sustain momentum.
I asked Charles Franklin, a professor at Marquette University Law School in Wisconsin and director of the Marquette Law School poll, what his experience watching Mr. Walker over the last four years suggested about his mettle as a presidential candidate. He said Mr. Walker was capable and very tactical, someone who thrives with a Democratic opponent and can do as well with Republicans. His electoral record is certainly consistent with that view.
Nonetheless...."
Highlighted quote at Scott Walker's website:
It is my intention to curb the size and influence of the Federal establishment and to demand recognition of the distinction between the powers granted to the Federal Government and those reserved to the States or to the people. All of us need to be reminded that the Federal Government did not create the States; the States created the Federal Government. - President Ronald Reagan, January 20, 1981
The MSN hate Walker for his successes in fighting leftist causes in his home state. They are on the side of those who’ve relentlessly tried to destroy him.
The MSM's also downplaying Hillary's 'shake down' tours of the world - on the State Department's dime. I wonder if it's bias on the part of the MSM - or just the millionth 'innocent mistake'... hard to tell. /s
Who could ever forget that circus? I can imagine the place even smelled like one.
Caller: How Scott Walker Made it in Wisconsin... [don't read the rolling dialogue captions they're screwed up - just listen]
I have been here since the 90’s and have noticed the same thing you have. I was a lurker back then and did not sign up for several years. I noticed several replies that were over the top lately and thought if you are going to do something violent, don’t talk about it here, just do it.
Twitchy was busy last night debunking the campus rape reporting and Walker. Here’s an update on the Jezebel writer who started it all.
