I don’t really have a dog in this race, but for what it’s worth I’m with Ted Baxter on this one, if the facts back him up.

CBS was also right there trying to disprove Dan Rather.

LOL! I kill me sometimes.

Agreed. But you know they're going to use it as a counterweight even if Baxter gets vindicated.

"Fake but accurate" gets results, or else they wouldn't do it.

I'll stick with O'Reilly just for that reason.

They know they have millions of dumb asses who watch their evening news who believe anything they are told.
Hell even one of the Obama cars architects admitted how dumb people are who voted for it and they still support their messiah

Tit for tat. “They want to send one of the opposition to the morgue.” Don't know what is going on here as I do not watch Fox or CBS. But it seems the real intent is not about journalism but getting back at the “other side” for the loss of Lyin’ Brian. Am I wrong?

Wow, this story was a massive nothing burger.

It's interesting. By the time Hillary is called out about her Bosnian "under enemy fire" lie, the public will be immune to these type of accusations and ignore it. I think this is all by design.

You are correct. The left thinks Bill O is a conservative.

On his program tonight, O’Reilly interviewed Don Browne, who was NBC’s Miami bureau chief for many years and supervised that network’s coverage of the Falklands. He supported O’Reilly’s version of events, noting that the the demonstrations grew larger (and more dangerous) with each passing day.

Incidentally, Mr. Browne had a long and successful career at NBC. He is highly respected, both as a news executive and a broadcast manager. From the Miami bureau, he went on to serve as VP/General Manager of WTVJ, the NBC owned-and-operated station in Miami; executive vice president of NBC News (where he helped turn around the Today show in the mid-90s) and finally as President of Telemundo. He retired from NBC/Universal just before the Comcast merger in 2011.

Don Browne doesn’t have a dog in the fight and no reason to distort his recollections of what happened. On the other hand, Eric Engberg, the retired correspondent who has accused O’Reilly of lying, has his own past problems with the truth. As I noted on another thread, he was the reporter for the infamous 1996 “reality check” segment on Steve Forbes and the flat tax, a report that was so blatantly biased that Bernard Goldberg—his CBS colleage—was inspired to write that famous WSJ op-ed, highlighting the obvious distortions and fallacies in Engberg’s report.

How did Engberg—a longtime friend of Goldberg’s—respond? When Goldberg called to explain why he had written the opinion piece, Engberg said “f-— you,” and hung up the phone. He hasn’t spoken to Bernard Goldberg since that day. He strikes me as an angry, bitter man; O’Reilly’s success must be particularly galling, given the fact that the former junior correspondent is now the highest-paid talent in cable news, While Engberg never rose past the second tier of correspondents at CBS.

Incidentally, Engberg now has his own production company in Sarasota, FL, where he retired after leaving CBS. But it looks like the website hasn’t been updated in seven or eight years and there is no listing of projects of clients for the company. Looks like Mr. Engberg isn’t exactly in demand, except as an accuser of Bill O’Reilly.
