Junk Food more Deadly than War, Famine, Genocide Researchers reveal disturbing numbers

A new study from the School of Medical Sciences at Australia’s University of New South Wales points to profound brain changes that junk food causes, making a junk food habit “more deadly than war, famine, and genocide”.

“We observed that rats fed a cafeteria diet for 2 weeks showed impaired sensory-specific satiety following consumption of a high calorie solution. The deficit in expression of sensory-specific satiety was also present 1 week following the withdrawal of cafeteria foods. Thus, exposure to obesogenic diets may impact upon neurocircuitry involved in motivated control of behavior.”

"the consumption of junk food overrides this natural ‘kill’ switch that allows us to regulate the calories we consume."

"mess with our internal motivation and reward system – which causes us to seek more nutrition-less junk. It’s like programming a time bomb and just waiting for it to blow."

How does this benefit those who would push such a study?

That’s the question that I always ask.

The only thing I see here is the sense of self-righteousness and superiority that they would achieve,
plus justification for controlling people and denying
“unhealthy” pleasures that some folks enjoy.
(While ignoring the health consequences of homosexuality)

Maybe so, but eating junk food is a matter of individual choice—and liberty. War, famine, and genocide not so much.

That’s probably the point.

Your individual freedom of choice,
not governed by those who know better,

is actually deadlier than what you see as “real” threats.

Leftists living out Isa 5:20.

I don't believe junk food killed more than the hundreds of millions killed by governments in the 20th century.

Until you’ve tried the pure foods approach, don’t criticize it. Over processed foods, ingredients that don’t belong and sauces and beverages with uncountable calories seriously mess up nutrition and health.

“making a junk food habit “more deadly than war, famine, and genocide”.

I love the way they have chosen comparisons that cannot be proven.

I’m no scientist but where are the figures comparing junk food harm to war, famine, and genocide?

So called “studies” get more ludicrous every day.

There’s no such thing as “pure” food, only food. Junk food today is worse than genocide, next year it’s good for you. Surely we’ve learned not to listen to our “betters” in this.

Anytime something is “worst than genocide”... it’s most certainly crap (re: Global Warming more dangerous than ISIS). Yep, this “report” raises my BEEE EEESSS meter past max! I’m always amazed (though less and less)... by the number of people (most always of leftist bent) who achieve pleasure by denying others theirs.

Follow the money. Always follow the money and motives. It is the prime directive. High calorie whatever in this case probably wasn't fully described. Looking back on the saccharin debacle and what occurred there, high, extremely high concentrations would be the order of the day to induce quick, intended results.

or if one cares to go back two-three decades can look into the Washington Apple - Alar pesticide affair. Same thing. Money, profit - motive.

And that is why American life expectancy has gone up so dramatically in the last 50 years.

I'll criticize it all I want. The "pure foods" approach is just fine for you. But back in the day when people were eating pure foods, i.e., before there were twinkies, people usually died between 55 and 65. Now the average person lives into the late 70's and into the 80's.

There is no correlation between being a healthy food nut and living a long life.

My post was not to criticize those who would freely choose to eschew processed foods,

but to point out that these studies usually have a leftist purpose to justify removing that freedom to choose otherwise.

LOL!

Who benefits from this? Everyone who eats a little more fruits and vegetables and less garbage.

Relax no one in this study trying to force you to change your eating habits. They are just trying to inform you. If you want to ignore it, then that is your decision.

Here is a little secret for you. If it tastes good, then it’s most likely a poison.

Breathing is even more dangerous than junk food. Everybody I’ve ever known who died did a lot of breathing, all their lives.

Something is causing the increase in obesity, diabetes, psychiatric abnormalities and autism. Some of the ingredients put in foods, such as HFCS, are very high on the list as a cause of obesity and diabetes.
