Its not new. The “Story Of O” filmed in France, is generally considered the first modern S&M sex genre story.
Some people go for pain, torture and bondage for arousal and even view it as a sign of love.
Some women are willing to be degraded by a man to get his approval.
The “Stop Patriarchy” crowd sees nothing amiss with male domination in the bedroom.
I wonder if the movie or book would have been the same if the guy was not rich but lived in a trailer park and instead of a private plane they went by bus.

The point is money can’t buy love, respect and decency.
Women who are attracted to a man solely because of the size of his bank account and his looks deserve what they get coming to them.

The irony of course is that feminism and Liberal idiots have so maligned the strong man, the noble man, the John Wayne/Cary Grant/Father kind of man...that women find themselves longing for a man who takes charge and is protective...and since we have forgotten what chivalry and real manly virtues are...like counterfeits always are, you get counterfit men.
This is all a wonderful examination of why so many divorces today begin on the wife's side, and why men who are trying to do AT LEAST 50% of everything are being punished for TRYING TO BE what society has for thirty years insisted they SHOULD BE to please women. And why women are often finding that the kind of non-assertive, cloying, fawning men that they are supposed to be seeking out are falling short.
Women find themselves longing for something...they just aren't sure what. Biblical submission merely means the man, as head of the family has last say. Having rejected this, look how many women are lured by this imitation of submission, even as they insist it "really isn't". It is also worth noting that while the Bible says, "Women, submit to your husbands", it goes on to say "Men, love your wives as Christ loved the Church". (You recall what Christ did for the Church, right?) A real man who loves his wife in that fashion, although having the "final say" on issues, would follow Christ's example and never do anything to harm, or hinder, or do anything but cherish his wife. THAT is a Biblical marriage, and women have so rejected it because too many men don't understand that second part...so that women fail to observe the first part. That longing for that kind of relationship between men and women mirrors the loss felt by humans outside of the Faith. We are built by our Creator with a capacity for deep relationships, between man and wife, and between people and God. Reject that, either case, and you find yourself with an emptiness inside that cannot be filled by food, sex, drink, money, power, rage, or ANYTHING.
After reading this excellent critique of the movie, I am reminded of the book Dr. Laura wrote: 10 Stupid Things Women Do to Mess up Their Lives.

thats a broad generalization. Imo, people watch this to escape their ordinary lives. Just like peole watch horror movies for escapism not because they approve of death and torture.

Relax, its just porn. No one gets too upset when Sasha Grey crawls around on a dog chain and takes it where the sun don’t shine. This is no different. Just getting a slightly better rating to allow it in the theaters. Trust me, the kids have all watched Sasha, but 50 Shades is not as available on the Internet.

As a kid I would read everything in sight and used to skim novels that family members would have sitting around the house. You couldn’t legally film many of the scenes in those books. The common denominator in the most popular male and female porn is the use and objectification of women.
The difference is that in male porn the man is irrelevant and sometimes not even shown. In female porn the man is buff, important and/or rich. It seems most women want to be owned but only by a man they deem “worthy” of owning them. They won’t say it since it sounds nuts but it obviously turns them on.
If an ugly, poor man brought a girl to his trailer and wanted to do the things in this novel he would be a “creep” and “rapist”. But for an attractive billionaire with a penthouse, most will willingly put on the leash.

Sadly I’ve known a few women that have had rape fantasies and in fact weren’t ‘completed’ without that kind of conclusion. One was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. The other was just freaky deaky.
It’s just the way things are.
