British media has long been accused of a strong anti-Israel bias, and even generating anti-Semitism.
Those claims have surfaced once again when during an interview with UK Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis for International Holocaust Memorial Day on Tuesday, a TV anchor with Sky News went as far as to suggest that Israel fuels anti-Semitism.
The anchor, Adam Boulton, began by asking whether the fact that people revisit this issue of anti-Semitism is because of Israel. In response, the rabbi explained that anti-Semitism far pre-dates the establishment of the renascent Jewish state, and in fact can be observed from the beginning of Jewish history roughly 3,800 years ago.
Boulton then responded that many people would say that the behavior of the state of Israel, unfortunately its attitude to the Palestinians
has poured fuel on anti-Semitism, in an apparent attempt to blame Israel for the hatred of Jews.

The clueless British newsman should watch this excellent video by his countryman Pat Condell:

Yes...it’s always those Jews who are to blame for everything evil in this world. /s
They don’t even try to hide their contempt for Israel anymore. Europe is in deep trouble for blatantly defying God’s chosen nation. America too for that matter.
Of course. It’s always the Jooooooz fault.
So... anti-semitism is a form of “backlash.”

The History channel played Schindler's List 1993 Sunday night three hours commercial free (the best part) and I really enjoyed it.
The Nazi's in it blamed the Jews for hatred of them too.
The Movement must be alive in disfunctional England.
British Anti-Semitism has NEVER gone away. Especially amongst the upper-class twits.
Hell, I have (Christian) family members in old Blighty, who are now in their eighties, who utterly REFUSE to say the word ‘Israel’. It has always been ‘Palestine’ or ‘Occupied Palestine’.
Indeed, they sound just like an older version of the University campus morons, who put on Israeli Apartheid Week every year.
That might also have to do with the history of Palestine and the now gone British Empire after WWII, 1945 to 1949.
Yeah, and it’s always the woman’s fault that she is raped according to many Muslim types. Sure can see how this thing works now...blame the victim-feel better about oneself.
Another day, another blood libel.
British anti-Semitism has always been confined to the fringes of British society. Either upper class or neo-Nazi morons. And now of course radicalised Islam. The general native British public (and most immigrants) has/have always been welcome and supportive of Judaism.
I would also like to distinguish between genuine anti-Semitism and criticism of Israel. Too often both are stated to be the same, esp curiously in the US more than Israel. And that badly skews supposed UK/European antisemitism. That is not true. To criticise Israel is no more anti-Semitic than its ‘racist’ to hate Obama.
Yes, the actions of the Irgun and Stern gangs 1944-48 are ignored here on FR and by the right in America, or even worse condoned and even celebrated. If the Irgun and Stern had been killing GI’s in 1946, the attitude here would be different.
Oh geez, the old "Some people say...." canard that journalists love to throw out to hide their true feelings.
This is especially vicious in that it targets self hating jews who do not like Israel or feel compelled to distance themselves from Israel... All the while this is clearly a statement aimed as a blanket against all jews in usual socialist collectivist racist tradition.
You cannot have socialism without antisemitism and racism, it is a fact.
Funny that, because something like the attack on the Exodus occured before that, and similar attacks occured in India against British forces, but we do not hear the British call India Hindu occupied Pakistan.
Jews were in Israel long before any Muslims.
The Irgun and Stern gangs started around 1944, although they had undertaken smaller missions earlier, the Exodus controversy was 1946.
Stern was such a fanatic he actually met with Nazi representatives in 1941 to come to deal thereby his group was attack the British (then fighting Rommel) in return for safe passage for Jews out of Europe and a free Jewish homeland if the Nazis won the war.
It’s par for the course that this one silly intervention gets picked up here and immediately interpreted as typical if the British media: yet nobody sees fit to mention tis week’s wall-to-wall coverage given by the British print and broadcast media, of all political complexions, to the Auschwitz 70 commemorations; including many deeply respectful interviews with the dwindling number of survivors.
