British Anti-Semitism has NEVER gone away. Especially amongst the upper-class twits.
Hell, I have (Christian) family members in old Blighty, who are now in their eighties, who utterly REFUSE to say the word ‘Israel’. It has always been ‘Palestine’ or ‘Occupied Palestine’.
Indeed, they sound just like an older version of the University campus morons, who put on Israeli Apartheid Week every year.
That might also have to do with the history of Palestine and the now gone British Empire after WWII, 1945 to 1949.
British anti-Semitism has always been confined to the fringes of British society. Either upper class or neo-Nazi morons. And now of course radicalised Islam. The general native British public (and most immigrants) has/have always been welcome and supportive of Judaism.
I would also like to distinguish between genuine anti-Semitism and criticism of Israel. Too often both are stated to be the same, esp curiously in the US more than Israel. And that badly skews supposed UK/European antisemitism. That is not true. To criticise Israel is no more anti-Semitic than its ‘racist’ to hate Obama.
