Even Obama doesn’t have that many!
As one who has been to Iraq while in the military I am torn between wanting to see it and not wanting to see it. Our snipers are a Godsend to the rest of us. But the killing a sniper does is different than that of “normal” combat.
In “normal” combat you are shooting at people who are actively trying to kill you and your comrades.
Snipers kill stealthily and silently those who are intent on doing harm. It is NOT cold calculated murder. It can be seen as “cold” but that is why sniper training includes psychological evaluations also. When a sniper enjoys the killing for the sake of killing they are no longer a very useful asset. They are a liability.
I will most likely see the movie but not sure if I should take my wife along. She always seems to watch me more than the movie to see my reaction. She’s told me that I have changed since going to Iraq and I know I have in some small ways. But she insists that it is deeper than that.
"Only winners get sprinkles."
That's a slippery slope right there. You could easily take that logic and declare that the godawful "Transformers" films were some of the best films ever made!
Flo, in the end, he was a winner. Coming to the vineyard late still gets you the same pay as those there all day. Keep your sprinkles, Flo. God is better.
“Money trumps everything in LaLa Land.”
I used to think that too. Then I researched the money rated G and rated R movies make. If Hollywood wanted to make more money they would make more family oriented films because they make lots of money and cost less to make. Hollywood doesn’t do that. Instead Hollywood cranks out movie after movie that they must know few people will see.
Michael Medved made the same point about Hollywood’s hatred of traditional religious stories back in 1992: https://www.commentarymagazine.com/article/hollywood-vs-america-by-michael-medved/
My husband and I saw it this past weekend. Sold out theater, quiet and respectful audience thru the very end. Lots of sniffling...I had to run to the restroom to bawl privately. So humbled by those who go into the fight for all of us. I am retired USAF but I was in a medical support career field so I was never at risk like those wariors. But my retired USAF dad—aircraft maintenance, my retired USN naval aviator husband, and my now deployed (3rd time) USAF stepson—munitions specialist—all three of these special men in my life have been so close to the fire and lived to serve another day by the grace of God that I have nothing but respect and appreciation for men like Chris Kyle and the missions they take on. Heroes all in my opinion.God bless all of our military and their families.
I am VERY grateful this film has been an amazing success for the sake of Kyle’s widow and kids, they are now going to be financially well off for their lives!!!!! A HUGE kudos to ALL of our citizens for making this happen for Kyle’s family, Eastwood is AMAZING at 84 years old may God ALWAYS bless him and keep him healthy and strong as long as possible when his time comes I for one will truly miss him!!!!!!!!
And of course, he's also anti-Second Amendment rights for the law-abiding citizenry who want to protect and defend themselves and their families but who aren't worth $50 million to be able to afford those bodyguards.
He should shut his pie hole but one can't see the notorious fat ass doing that anytime soon.
socially isolated, politically conservative.
AKA the good guys.
White, yes. Anglo-Saxon disregards German, Low Country, French, Spanish, Irish influence. Protestant: To a significant degree.
Didn’t know that he recanted.
“Let’s see the Academy giving them the prize based on that. “
Revenue has nothing to do with the Best Picture Award.
.
True, but tell me the last winner that was a total financial flop. Which will happen if AS starts posting Titanic kind of #'s.
Your services are every bit as valuable as theirs! Medical support? Very needed. Everyone that does any job in the military is as valuable as those who are on the front line, you may not take the risk of getting shot but in your case, you may have been in a position to help those that were injured.
My husband was in a mechanic crew in Viet Nam, without his specialized training, who knows, someone’s truck could have broken down and put them in a very bad position depending where that happened. All are needed and almost all of those of us who did not serve extend our appreciation to ALL our service men and women.
I find it interesting you had to go to the restroom to “bawl privately”. Friend of ours said his wife left the theater after 45 minutes and went home (they are just a few blocks from theater). I asked Mr. OG why she left, he said “I don’t know, probably too much violence”. Now I think otherwise.
Mr. OG has not gone to movie in at least over 10 years, me about 8 but we plan to go to this one - after the crowds have cleared out.
WASPs may be an acronym that has become passe. I am old enough to remember when it first appeared. Liberals used it to denigrate patriotic white men who were descendants of the original settlers, i.a., white, anglo, and protestant. This was during the beginning of the so-called civil rights movement and was the battle cry of anti-white southern Christians folks. I am uncertain why the word ‘protestant’ was added, except that the timing was also during the rise of the Kennedy’s, and so they decided that anyone who did not like the Kennedys must be anti-Catholic. lol.
My mother was among the original patriotic, conservative Catholics in my town. She would no more have voted for Kennedy than she would have voter for Alger Hiss.
I find it humorous that WASP has now become a disparaging word for the ‘elite, white-progressives of the northeast Atlantic coast. Maybe we should begin using it. It will drive them crazy having their own manufactured word thrown in their face! White, Anglo-Saxon and Progressive = WASP!
