It's time for Muslims to take a stand. Egypt may be showing the way
The terror attack in Paris last week represents Islamisms most explicit declaration of war on free society. Non-Muslims were slaughtered in a non-Muslim country to avenge a so-called crime against a blasphemy law that is not even Islamic but merely Islamist. If theres any blasphemy here, its that of Islamism itself against my religion, Islam.
At last, on New Years Day, the president of Egypt, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, did what no other leader of the Muslim world has done to date: he named Islams real enemy. In a gathering of religious clerics at Cairos ancient Al Azhar University, he called for the rescue of Islam from ideology.

Failing to call Islamism by its name (a failure of which Barack Obama is, alas, guilty) guarantees defeat. The idea of a war between general Islam and the West is exactly the outcome Islamists seek. Failing to name Islamism out of political correctness, fear or stupidity is the ultimate Islamophobic act. What is seen, often sincerely, as a desire not to offend has only allowed Islamists to thrive within our democracies as they plot their extinction.

Interesting. Maybe there are good, peaceful Muslims? And if this person is an example of one she certainly does NOT think like our president.
What does that make our president?
So do I. I've bookmarked it.
“What does that make our president?”
A Marxist
Discussions in western, english language press about what Islam “needs to do” is simply delusional, propagandistic, self-comfort.
Islam has no central authority which can make any changes. The only common tradition is the Koran. Shia and Sunni can’t even agree on the Hadith. Imams, Mullahs, Ayatollahs or other “teachers” from across the Muslim world can arrive at their position through hundreds of religious or political routes or simply through force of personality.
Do not talk to Westerners about “reform.” If you want to talk “reform” go to Pakistan or Saudi Arabia. See how it works out.
The West can only act to protect itself from malign political/religious influences of Islam.
Any reasonable and sane man who has read the koran and hadditha has learned enough to know islam is and has been a murderous insane system of total tyranny.
There’s no room in it for a reformation that can live peaceably along any other civilization. So long as the koran exists degenerates will find in it justification for their inhuman acts.
It needs to be vanquished and erased by all means at hand, period.
Can’t be done. Several hundred years ago, when Islamic philosophers were expanding their minds with new ideas, they were subsequently killed. Since then there has been no deviation from the Koran.
nuconvert, are you truly a new convert? If so, what are you a new convert to?
Islam is shot through with heretics and she is one of them.
Heretics just don't want to follow the religion as written in the Koran and follow Muhammads examples set in the Hadiths.
Islam is a violent religion taking the violence out on non-believers.
Some people born into Islam just can't adapt themselves to this violence and try to change the religion to accommodate their more peaceful leanings. That can prove to be fatal in that violent belief system.
The Muslim fundamentalists know what to do with these traitors to the religion, and what to do to us Infidels. -tom
Is she, or is she not talking taqiyyah?
That’s always in the back of my mind when I hear a Muslim woman explain the shortfalls of her religion.
It is the same when I listen to the words of a ‘peaceful’ or ‘moderate’ male Muslim.
The fact that Islam allows to use of taqiyyah when communicating with a non-Muslim makes every Muslim suspect.
Why would you want to save a demonic cult that enslaves its adherants and blinds them to the truth?
Seriously, in the words of the Tick...
"You know, evil comes in many forms, be it a man-eating cow or Joseph Stalin. But you can't let the package hide the pudding. Evil is just plain bad. You don't cotton to it. You gotta smack it on the nose with the rolled up newspaper of goodness. Bad dog! Bad dog!"
The Mohammed Factor
If you condemn murder you condemn Mohammed.
If you condemn thievery you condemn Mohammed.
If you condemn rape you condemn Mohammed.
If you condemn pedophilia you condemn Mohammed.
If you condemn terrorism you condemn Mohammed.
If you condemn Mohammed you condemn Islam.
Yep he is a marxist first and muslim sympathizer second. However he uses the muslim thing to add chaos and help move the marxist thing along
Islam has needed a reformation for the last 300 years! Get rid of the Bloodly death to Infidels! Junk. If Allah is so great and merciful he would not be deminished by a few jokes or cartoons. He might laugh and even forgive. Mohammad did marry a 9 year old daughter of his good friend—but he loved her and she was the only one of his wives who gave hin any children. They prayed together. She never wore a veil. She could speak her mind to Mohammed. Old Mo would not approve of all the things people do in his name.
1. Nixon's approach which was accepted by Europe and most of the world. Nixon knew Islam very well but thought if we bring Muslims in and live with us Muslims will see how we live and they will help bring change to Islam. (No comet needed on this.)
2. Possibility addition to the first. Allow Islam to make the change on their own by twisting what Islam really is and make people believe it is something it isn't. Which is what this article is about and it is a very twisted version of what Islam has been. Which this exact twisting of Islam was attempted by Averroes 900 years ago, which partially worked for a while. As a result it brought about the golden age of Islam (which i agree it wasn't really golden.)
3. Indonesia is the ONLY sharia based country in the world that doesn't have apostasy laws on their books. This was done over a trade deal in the 1960's. Today two million Muslims are leaving Islam per year in Indonesia. It's a slow process but in my opinion our best option.
