Clint Eastwood's record-breaking film, scoring six Oscar nominations, is galvanizing moviegoers in both red and blue states....

Clint Eastwood's American Sniper is smashing records at the North American box office, where it topped Friday's chart with $30.5 million from 3,555 theaters for a debut in the $75 million-$80 million range over the long Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, well ahead of expectations.

That would mark the largest opening of all time for the month of January, as well as one of the top grosses ever for a non-tentpole, much less an R-rated, modern-day war film.

If you are not in lockstep with the majority on this board, you definitely get flamed. I have been more than once.

"The multitudes that are flocking to this single movie could be a small indication that there may still be a "sleeping giant" in this country that will rise up with a "terrible resolve" once we are pushed too far."

We had better hurry. Obama and his cadres are like termites eating out the US until, one day, it will collapse.

I saw it in Wisconsin, yesterday. The theater was packed and there was a line outside the door when I showed up 30 minutes before show time. When I left, there was another line out the door waiting to get in. They had it on three screens. I didn’t think any movie could top what I saw in Lone Survivor. But this movie does it. It is emotionally draining.

That and the fact that MLK, Jr. said that he hoped one day that men would be judged “by the content of their character and not the color of their skin.” This statement is diametrically opposed to the goals of Sharpton, Jackson, Obola, and Holder, et. al. They want it to be all about the color of their skin; meanwhile, the character of these people is below the gutter.

He had some messed up priorities. In his own words.

For example?

He regretted more than once his priorities were God, country, family, when it should have been God, Family, country. In his own words. You’d need the context to see just how unsavory, rather than patriotic, this comes off.

So. Read the book and see for yourself. I found other character flaws, too, of course, which we all are cursed with. Look, I’m not saying he was a bad man. I would rather have this guy in combat with me than anybody in the White House times 100. But it’s a mistake colonize him.

He sure didn’t canonize himself. Or think of himself as a hero. He was a tragic figure, I think, one who burned too hot, and sadly, for too short a time.

May he rest in peace.

I never dreamed I’d see that kind of response on this site.

“If you are not in lockstep with the majority on this board, you definitely get flamed. I have been more than once.”

Let’s take your words to their logical conclusion: “If you are not in lockstep with the majority of voters who elected our president in 2008 and again in 2012, you should be mocked, shamed, flamed and perhaps even deported. I have been more than once, so I have stopped thinking independently and have gone along with the rest of the sheep who will not tolerate another point of view.”

Wow. Just wow.

I don't see anything "unsavory" here.

I guess I would have to be there.
