NOTHING you get from the government is ever free. At a minimum, there are always strings attached, sometimes there are chains instead of strings.

Such a deal!
Free gun locks, and just for telling the cops where you live and how many guns you have... so they can later confiscate the guns.

We two share that situation! I’ve been up 25 hours now, but slept all day last Friday and 16 hours Monday. Happens most often in Winter. I HATE cold weather, so being in bed is warm.

Kind of like offering free needles if one will tell them how much heroin they have on hand...

Got a wireless mouse, I can turn on the screen magnifier and on screen keyboard and freep from under the blankets. Can’t sit for long, legs puff up. I’m posting this from clear across my room.

I’m a vet and if I got a letter like this I would demand to know how I got on this VA s***list. What triggers were in play here?
Vietnam vet? Registered Republican? CCW permit holder? OIF/OEF vet deployed to a Muslim country? Southerner by birth?
Still, something smells.....even the arrogant creeps at the VA should realize that a demand (that’s what it is, folks) for personal gun data would stir up outrage and backlash rather than compliance.
All kinds of official-looking garbahge in the mail these days. Especially aimed at vets & older folks.
“OFFICIAL! TO BE OPENED ONLY BY ADDRESSEE!” sort of thing.

Look for the standard and/or bulk rate postage on those.
For the life of me, I have no idea why conspicuously colored blue/white/red envelopes, with "Official express mailing" plastered all over them are not illegal. Anyone in the postal service not acutely aware of it will give said envelope priority treatment when it does not deserve it.

Give them Bill Clinton’s address. Then sell the gun locks to some metrosexual wimp and use the money to buy ammo.

I think I’ll fill out the paperwork for, oh, about seventy six firearms, just to see what happens. After securely concealing the actual items, that is.
