The WaPo is Suddenly Terrified of Executive Orders... And Ted Cruz
Townhall Finance ^ | January 2, 2015 | Michael Schaus

Posted on 01/02/2015 4:13:38 AM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

It was as if the editorial board over at the Washington Post suddenly stopped what they were doing, looked up from their work, and dropped their jaws as a (rare) coherent thought suddenly manifested inside their collective brains.

“Wait a minute…” they muttered, as the thought of Obama using executive action played over and over again in their minds. “If he can change the law unilaterally,” a gradual expression of horror engulfed their faces, “then if Republicans end up winning in 2016, they could just -- ”

I imagine the rest of that thought was almost unbearable for the liberal clones of Ezra Klein to articulate. But they did manage to spell it out in an Editorial:

Democrats urging President Obama to “go big” in his executive orders... might pause to consider the following scenario: It is 2017. Newly elected President Ted Cruz (R) insists he has won a mandate to repeal Obamacare. The Senate, narrowly back in Democratic hands, disagrees. Mr. Cruz instructs the Internal Revenue Service not to collect a fine from anyone who opts out of the individual mandate to buy health insurance, thereby neutering a key element of the program.

Whoa, whoa… How did the Senate swing back to the Dems? The Post’s hypothetical world (where their “birther” concerns aren’t enough to derail a Ted Cruz Presidential campaign) brings up a pretty good point: If working with Congress is suddenly deemed optional, what would stop those evil Republicans from implementing a little executive action of their own next time they’re in power?

It’s almost too much fun to imagine the nuclear meltdown that would take place in the Leftist media if a GOP President decided to use Obama’s patented style of governance to repealing the contraception mandate, neuter Obamacare, and reinforce immigration law. Heck… With just a phone and a pen the newly elected President could erase much of Obama’s legacy. The mere thought of such actions undoubtedly send some liberals into blind hysterics…

Which is why they should probably stop cheerleading for King Obama. After all, it was only a mere paragraph later that the editorial board at the Wash Po decided to “warn” Republicans about being obstinate:

It would not be rational for Republicans to spurn compromise in [some] areas just because Mr. Obama acts unilaterally in others; but it is entirely foreseeable.

For being an editorial board, I don’t think these folks have a solid handle on the English language. If there is only one side “compromising”, isn’t that considered a surrender? But their larger point, warning against setting a new precedent for executive power, should be well taken.

It was somewhat refreshing to see a traditionally Leftist paper balance their enthusiasm for Obama with a little pragmatism. Sure… The Wash Post editorial board still has a ways to go before they start waiving the Gadsden flag and calling for Obama’s impeachment, but at least they seem to understand that Americans vote for representatives, rather than Kings.

(Of course, there is also an outside chance that they are simply terrified of a Ted Cruz Presidency.)

After the initial foaming at the mouth hissy fits, the MSM will simply revert back to: “It’s only okay when WE do it!”

It’s because they are thinking about January 21, 2017 when the next President comes into office. They are deathly afraid that a President Cruz would likely invalidate nearly every EO Obama signed. That’s why.

Some will.

Others will continue examining themselves, and the lies we all tell ourselves to make ourselves more comfortable. This is a horrible world.

Seeing is not believing, and believing is not seeing.

But both are equally inclusive.

It's what they do and how they think.

We are evil and wrong and haters, they have good intentions, never admit when they are wrong and are tolerant {if you agree with them}.

CRUZ CONTROL is now at warp speed.

They are deathly afraid that a President Cruz would likely invalidate nearly every EO Obama signed.

Any candidate (Romney, Rubio, Christie, or the next Bush for example) who would not immediately revoke every Obama executive order and executive action will not have my vote. Any candidate who will not do everything legal to strip whatever vestiges of Obamacare remain will not have my vote. Any candidate who will not reverse Amnesty and deport illegals who registered for Obama's illegal and unconstitutional "legal" status will not have my vote. Cruz will do all those things, which is why he is at the top of my list among likely candidates.

For a while, the Democrats were acting under the assumption that the Republicans would never again be a threat to them. I recall much initial boasting to that effect back in 2008. Then they lost the House. Then they lost the Senate. Then they started losing state houses and governors in states that were once considered reliable democratic strongholds. I imagine they are pretty nervous at the prospects of a Cruz presidency. I suppose the lesson we should all walk away with is, don’t start gettin’ cocky until the job is truly done.

It’s unlikely that Republicans would stand by a GOP President who ruled by decree as Obama as done. It is more likely a foreign oriented communist, even more radical and filled with more hatred than Obama, will do it and liberals will find themselves in a nightmare of death and destruction.

I’m speaking merely of the attempt to undo the mind boggling regulations, Obamacare, and a multitude of other things foisted on the American Republic.

In a major suck-up to illegals, Oboma "announced" he was issuing an
E/O and planned a "signing ceremony" at a Las Vegas gathering of
illegals. E/O and signing ceremony nevah happened.

Obama was photoed signing "memos" on AF One---not an "executive action." Why? B/c an E/O comes w/ legal baggage that the conniving Boobamba wanted to evade. Both "memos" are now on the Whitehouse website.

The scam works this way: signed Boobamba memos "delegate" to federal agencies orders to come up with plans (that must advance Boobamba's global conspiracy to overthrow the US govt w/ Third World federales and their cadres jumping the US border).

The federal agencies then "invent" Committees to do this (the better to overthrow the US govt). Then "Administrative Rules," after a comment period, will be published in the "Code of Federal Regulations," which magically turns them into law........ using federal fairy dust.

So Boobamba is shielded from responsibility---he doesn't have to take the hit. Behind closed doors, he tells federal factotums what he wants.....and faster than you can say "the combo plate w/ extra hot sauce".....the overthrow of the US govt commences.

====================================================

THE "DELEGATION" HORROR STORY--A Federal agency MO since 1946. It's down to a science: (1) publish a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM), (2) make the comment period really short, (3) stonewall any negative comments, and, (4) publish the rule, which (5) NOW has the force of US law. No Congressman was ever involved, and Boobamba doesn't leave his DNA on it. Yet again, why "Delegation" is ominous for liberty---why the writing of administrative law by federal agencies - is un-Constitutional. (Thanks to FReeper Regulator's info.)

===================================================

FREEPER ACTION NOW: Write your governor; call your state attorney general. Nullification means power to the states and power to the people.

The judiciary has consistently ruled against the nullification doctrine, asserting its unique, judicial right to declare laws unconstitutional. But this executive order isn’t a law. And given its extremely shaky legal footing, it isn’t difficult to imagine a federal bench recognizing the states’ right to disregard federal orders that don’t clearly have the force of law.

And that would be a tremendous — tremendous — blow against the executive’s assumption of legislative powers.

But in the shorter, more direct term: It would force the Obama administration to go on offense, perhaps suing the states to enforce a law........ that isn’t a law.

I’ll go out on a limb (the size of an aircraft carrier) and say that people on all sides support EO’s when they agree with them. Principles are for suckers.

I think Obama is intentionally abusing the EO’s. He gets two things out of it. He gets things into policy that he could never get through congress and his abuse will become so blatant that the American people will demand that these powers be rolled back on all future presidents. It’s only going to get worse over the next two years.

When Boobamba was re/elected, arrogant, self-serving Democrats went ballistic---cocksure that they reigned supreme---that Republicans would never again be a threat to them....there was much boasting back in 2008. Then Demons lost the House. Then 2014 midterms happened---they lost the Senate....lost state houses and governors in states that were once considered democratic strongholds.

Boobamba and Demoncrats better become familiar w/ the old adage: "Be careful who you step on, on the way up, b/c you're gonna meet them on the way down."

Do not expect the media to be logical. Leftists can hold two contradictory thoughts in their “minds” at the same time.

I'm against EOs that do anything besides direct how existing laws should be enforced by the Executive branch. Making law should be verboten.

However, any EOs a future president makes that simply nullify previous EOs, I could support wholeheartedly.

I wouldn't mind one big EO that invalidated all existing EOs (especially 10988) just to start with a clean slate.
