I must say that for some decades now, the media have proven to be terrible weather forecasters, always finding the climate of hate on the right, and never seeing it on the left of the political map.
My friend (who picked his moniker "Danube of Thought" from the late Romanian despot Nicolae Ceausescu) documents some of the coverage of the assassination of President Kennedy -- murdered by a Communist gunman:
"Hatred and fanaticism, the flabby spirit of complacency that has permitted the preachers of fanatical hatred to appear respectable, and the self-righteousness that labels all who disagree with us as traitors or dolts, provided the way for the vile deed that snuffed out John Kennedys life.
The editor of the Austin American writing in November 1963
"Since the crime seemed too vast to be attributed to a single criminal, wrote historian William Manchester, Dallas itself became the city where 'they' killed Kennedy. A month before Kennedy's visit the US ambassador to the UN, Adlai Stevenson, had been assaulted and spat on. Dallas became known as a hotbed of extremists. Kennedy told his wife 'we're heading into nut country' before the visit.

He asks: A toxic stew of right-wing hate can even get a delusional Communist to enlist in the cause. So: has Sharpton created such a toxic stew? Can the toxic stew have incited the cop-killer to act?
There is no doubt in my mind that the intemperate remarks and conduct of the president, attorney general, pogramist, tax-evader, and White House advisor Al Sharpton, and Mayor de Blasio have created the kind of toxic stew that has now put the lives of police throughout the country at risk. And if they are at risk, so are we, for they stand between us and barbarism.

Probably true at one time. I seriously doubt the case can be made now.
The courts have ruled that LE has no constitutional obligation to protect us from anything. And now, in the event they do, they have to fear for themselves if the perpetrator involves a chosen class. Not much of an incentive to hinder the barbarians, is it?
You and I stand between us and the barbarians. And it's well past time the average American come to that realization.
LIBs hate you before you are born (abortion), hate you while you are alive (excessive taxes and regulations), hate you when you are aged and infirm (nobamacare & death panels) and hate you when you die (anti-religious beliefs). What a bunch of hateful, mentally disturbed degenerates.
George Orwell had these people pegged many years ago.
Well said! Succinct and true.
“Toxic stew”, as it relates to the mob psychology, has a LOT of ingredients, much like the makeup of “global climate”. Some of the constituents of both are quite innocent, but are conflated in the minds of some rather uncritical thinkers as being one and the same with the most venomous and deadly parts.
A contained toxic mix, one that is allowed to escape only very small quantities if at all, can even have certain therapeutic properties, one of which is to introduce a sort of inoculation AGAINST the widespread discharge of the toxin. In the minds of the uncritical, however, any amount whatsoever is an intolerable level. ZERO tolerance.
This belief set would not be bad in itself, except when the zero-tolerance people get into a position of authority, and they then claim “the science of the matter is settled.”
The “science” of mob behavior, like the “science” of global climate change, is NEVER “settled”, because all or even most of the factors involved are either not known, or totally misunderstood, and totally erroneous conclusions are drawn as the “final answer”.
The trouble lies not in the things we do not know. It is the things we know with absolute, unshakable certainty to be fact, that turn out to be just not true.
The biggest hatred of all is that of the GOPe toward Ted Cruz.

Yeah sure, it's all about hatred on the right.
I take it you didn't bother to read the article. Clarice Feldman could well have been talking about you.
You nailed it, smooth.
Bump
Bump.
He didn't say it's all about hatred on the right. Nice twisting of words, though. In a discussion about the media's obsession with hatred on the right, he pointed out that the GOPe, progressives who do not want to be seen as part of the right, but of the rational middle, hate conservatives more than any hatred attributed to the right. I think it's a valid point, notwithstanding your effort to shut him down. I don't know why you want to attack poor Menthols, unless you are here to trolololol for the GOPe.
I take it you didn't bother to read the article. Clarice Feldman could well have been talking about you.
Indeed! Buzz-word posters add nothing but an insatiable desire to use buzz-words, even when it has nothing to do with a thread topic.
Jesus Christ: You cant impeach Him and He aint gonna resign.
It’s nice of you to rush to the defense of the new guy, but I twisted no words. I stand by them.
Characterizing me as a potential supporter of the GOPe shows a lack of knowledge on your part, and eliminates any astuteness your post may have attempted.
So true, and so juvenile and quickly boring! B^)
From what I’ve read Kennedy was murdered under the direct orders of Khrushchev. Foreign assassinations had to have his direct order and everything had to be verbal. The rest is disinformation also put out on his orders to cloud the issue. Seeing as how Kennedy stole his election and left men to die in the Bay of Pigs it seems like a hard core case of Karma at work.
