The Death Panels Are Coming
Breitbart ^ | 11/11/2014 | Ben Shapiro

With Obamacare open enrollment about to begin anew, rumors of trouble in Healthcare Paradise run rampant. Enrollment has dropped to 30% below Congressional Budget Office estimates; fully 1 million of the 8.1 million people who originally signed up for Obamacare dropped out.

But Obamacare’s shoddy implementation doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of its great evil. Obamacare architect quite correctly attributed the passage of Obamcare to “lack of transparency” and the “stupidity of the American voter” – because it turns out that Obamacare will ration care, and that the most well-respected bodies in terms of health rationing have already recommended cutting off services.

The US Preventive Services Task Force is an independent body authorized by Congress to make “evidence-based recommendations about clinical preventive services such as screenings, counseling services, or preventive medications.” And since the onset of Obamacare discussions, the Task Force recommendations for treatment and screening have become less and less generous. In November 2009, the Task Force recommended that mammography for women every other year between the ages of 50 and 74. They admit that they have insufficient information to suggest that it would be fruitless to screen after 74, and they say that case-by-case screenings should take place before 50.

The Mayo Clinic, by contrast, recommends annual mammograms for women above age 40; so too does the American Cancer Society. As Dr. Sandhya Pruthi of the Mayo Clinic writes, “Findings from a large study in Sweden of women in their 40s who underwent screening mammograms showed a decrease in breast cancer deaths by 29 percent.”

Then there are colonoscopies: the Task Force recommends against routine colonoscopies for adults 76 to 85 years of age, and recommends against screening at all beyond age 85. . .

The US Prevent Services Task Force is a liberal/progressive body authorized by OCongress to make “politically-biased recommendations about clinically wasteful so-called preventive services such as screenings, counseling services, or preventive medications.”

There. Fixed it.

That’s socialism for you. Pay and pay and pay and get nothing in return. And driving doctors out of business is really a death panel thing - reduce the number of doctors and then restrict the availability of treatments because there are not enough doctors.

Wilhelm Tell:" driving doctors out of business is really a death panel thing -

I can see lines of Americans forming in Canada and Mexico for medical treatment, and willing to wait .
Just don't tell the Canadians who are swarming across the border for 'life-saving' treatment .
Invest in a medical care center in Mexico for your financial and medical future. ../s

Although I prefer to avoid the term, "death panels"--it is unnecessarily inflammatory, in my opinion, and therefore probably not conducive to engendering serious discussion of the matter at hand--I do believe, without question, that healthcare rationing is coming under ObamaCare.

And this rationing will hit the elderly the hardest, due to its purely utilitarian nature: Those who, according to the actuarial tables, probably do not have that much time remaining anyway--even if they were in perfect health--will simply not be given aggressive treatment, when (less expensive) palliative care may be substituted for it.

That’s okay: most people who vote Democrat are old.

They’ll be cancelled first. :)

In the UK the NHS calls it the "Liverpool Pathway"

That is; a short and painful dehydrated trip from ward to morgue.

The number I have heard from people in the business (please don't ask for a source because I won't betray it) say that 70% of medical expenditures are on end-of-life treatments. Whether "premies" in the NICU or geriatrics, they lump them all together.

I believe the number is about the last six months of life.

And sometimes the more expensive treatment will cure someone or allow them to live pain free. So my mother had her local cancer in her hip radiated and a rod put in, so she could live at home for another 8 months. The alternative was a fractured hip and a nursing home, which would actually be more expensive than surgery.

I find this deeply ironic as leftists demand Socialist healthcare while including rationing in any Socialist health plan. There goes the notion they care for the sick the most!

Yes, that's what I've heard too.

Reality is more complex than actuarial modeling.

If the public had been more inflamed, perhaps the GOP would have had one more senator—or one less Democrat senator would have voted for it—and Obamacare never would have passed.

TOTALITARIANCARE (forced). Death & plunder…twin towers of totalitarians. The “stupidity of the American voter” is the good-heartedness of Americans to give a candidate a chance. The deceiver-in-chief (”if you like your doctor…”) and the architects of his grand deception should be in prison or worse.
