... Failure to solve this crisis effectively perpetuates the status quo, where an underclass of men and women work for unlawfully low wages, undermining businesses, and are less likely to report being victimized by crime for fear of being deported.
It's why traditionally Republican-friendly organizations, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, have pushed for lawmakers to develop a comprehensive solution, and why immigrant-rights groups have grown so impatient with the Obama administration's promises of help.
The president's administration deported more people in five years than his predecessor, George W. Bush, deported in eight years, according to the Pew Research Center. Obama reportedly is weighing action to reduce that number, but any decision he makes unilaterally isn't necessarily lasting.
For that, Congress must act. And that will require the House speaker to rally support for the Senate's plan. Or come up with a new one that actually solves the problem in a reasoned, responsible way.

The "problem" is that current immigration laws have not been enforced for generations. Enforce current law including VISA overstays and eVerify. Turn off the magnets like DACA, welfare, education, healthcare, anchor babies, chain migration, etc. and the problem will be "solved" over time.
How about this proposal: Enforce the law
Hey, if they don't like it they can go home anytime they want.
1. Enforce already passed laws.
2. Insist on a path is open to all nationalities (not just Latinos), which the current law ensures.
3. Utilize the current work-visa program as it was designed.
4. Remove all troops in Europe (cold war is ended) and place them along the borders of New Mexico, California, Arizona and Texas.
5. Plug up eVerify with more significant jail-time for US citizens who refuse to use and are using non-US labor.
Both sets of reasoning are fatally flawed, however. Business on the one hand wants millions of cheap laborers legalized so they can keep on working and producing for them at minimum cost. Yet, it is horribly short-sighted in the fact that unearned entitlements once given only beget more demand for more entitlement. In short, their cheap labor force will DEMAND higher wages and benefits simply because they are now ‘legal’.
Power, on the other hand, is always ‘power’ - until it is taken away. Democrats would profit immensely from millions of new Democrat ‘legals’; they could maintain control for many years. But the demographic change to the historical Democrat Poweratti would permanently alter the political landscape. A Nancy Pelosi would be replaced by a Juanita Sanchez, Harry Reid by a Jorge Gomez and so on.
And, on down the line, the face and platform of the American political system would slowly devolve into something more recognizable to the new majority - Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, Mexico - take your pick.
That phrase is always a tell.
Immigrants have no rights per se, because they're not mentioned in the Constitution. That's the difference between them and Americans.
"Immigrants," if they are legally here, have such rights as current policy gives them. Illegals have such rights as the rules of engagement with U.S. military and law enforcement give them under the circumstancesa range of possibilities that includes prison and deadly force.

NYT headlines: Democrats Must Embrace Latinos and Obama's Immigration Reform.
Mmmmm......a plus-perfect partnership---they got what it takes----since Democrats and latinos are both toiling mightily to overthrow the US government.

OBAMA's AMNESTY E/O---A US OCCUPIED BY THIRD WORLD MILITANTS "Once Congress approves an increase in immigration, we will demand more, said Rep. Luis Gutierrez (Dem-Chicago), a leading advocate of the immigration reform.
The next day after we pass immigration reform, you know were not going to be satisfied, were going to come back, he said. Were going to have a civil rights act, were going to have a voting rights act Nobody is leaving this fight once we conclude this first chapter, he said. Hopefully, in 30 years, [we] can bring immigrants from all over the world, Gutierrez said.
Gutierrez is paid well as an agent of a foreign government-conspiring and colluding w/ collaborators to overthrow the US govt....but Generalissimo Gutierrez plumb forgot to mention the militants are gathered at the Mexican border, lying-in-wait to wreak havoc.
A barrage of savages, brigands, barbarians and thieves is ready to foment a takeover; to soak taxpayers and cheat the US govt---wire transfers at the ready to drain US dollars into Third World hellholes----including US foreign aid, food stamp foreign aid, EITC SS, SSI, UI, welfare checks, etc, etc, etc.

The Third World is motivated by envy and greed.....an ancient formula going back to Greco/Roman times: targeting a powerful, thriving bountiful country; lusting after the country's power and riches; sending in its forces under various covert pretexts. Read on.
Guatemalan President Otto Perez warned the US will be
inundated w/ even more contagious illegals if billions
of US tax dollars are not handed over.
GUATEMALA CITY (Reuters) - The United States should provide billions of dollars to help Central American nations curb the flow of illegal migrants, Guatemalan President Otto Perez said, and his government warns the problem will get worse if Washington fails to help.
Fleeing violence, trying to reach relatives already in the United States or seeking jobs, record numbers of child migrants from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador have been stopped at the southern U.S. border this year, causing widespread alarm. Last month, the three countries pitched Washington an ambitious development plan to confront the issue.
They want to pump about $10 billion into the region to create jobs and lift living standards, with the bulk of funding coming from the United States, Perez told Reuters. He hopes the plan could come up with about $2 billion a year from 2015 to 2019, a sum he equated to roughly 10 percent of annual U.S. spending on border security and immigration enforcement.
"Now we understand it's not simply a question of the United States saying: 'Right, here's $2 billion a year for five years' for example - the governments of the three countries have to play their part too," the conservative Perez, who took power in early 2012, said in an interview late on Monday.
The US aid package would boost infrastructure and provide more jobs in all three countries, especially in areas that send large numbers of migrants to the United States, he added.
The three Central American governments are urging the United States to shoulder the lion's share of the costs, arguing that U.S. demand for illegal narcotics has fueled violence among drug gangs across much of the impoverished region.
"The United States has to support this, it has no other option," Guatemala's foreign minister, Carlos Morales, told Reuters. "If they don't support it, the crisis will kick off again, you can count on it."
Perez said he hoped the United States would put up about 60 percent of funding. "But we'll have to discuss it calmly and see what each individual country can do, and what can be achieved by common consent."
During meetings in New York in September, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry told Central American officials he hoped Congress could approve about $300 million in funding, Morales said, noting the sum was "nothing" given the scale of the problem.
Central American leaders are due to meet Vice President Joe Biden on Nov. 12 in Washington to sound out U.S. support for their plan, Morales added.--SNIP--

Here’s some REAL reform.
1. Secure the borders.
2. Enforce existing laws.

NOW HEAR THIS: Americans demand their government and its duly-elected legislators escape the Third World stranglehold burdening us. America belongs to its lawful citizens---not a bunch of greedy criminal invaders salivating to board the US gravy train.

THIS NEEDS TO GO VIRAL----STOP OBAMA IN HIS TRACKS :
(1) Fund every penny that is budgeted now.....except defund all DHS, ICE, HHS and USCIS' rubber-stamp activities. Defund anything and everything that directly and indirectly deals with amnesty: work permits, green cards for illegals, gravy train federal subsidies, re-situating unaccompanied minors w/ families. Then let Obama defend his amnesty E/O or take the blame for the entire shutdown himself.
(2) As a further warning----no votes on ANY Obama nominees until Jan 20, 2017. No judges, No Attorney General, no sub-cabinet secretaries. NOTHING----thanks to the SCOTUS ruling, Obama could not recess-appoint ANYONE, if the House declares the Congress is always in session.

Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), has set up an active war room dedicated to undermining Obama's plans on immigration, and is next in line to chair the Budget Committee. From that perch, he will have the power to set spending parameters that undermine the president's moves.

Sen Jeff Sessions Warns of Chilling Obama Immigration Plotting
NRO.online.com -- By Joel Gehrke --8/19/14
Senator Jeff Sessions (Rep- Ala) (before midterms) called for Americans to pressure their senators about voting against President Obamas expected executive orders on immigration, which he described as a chilling plot with activists to undermine national laws.
Recent developments suggest the presidents planned executive amnesty could be increasingly imminent and broad in scope. House Democrat Leader Pelosi clearly one of the White Houses closest allies has just urged the president to issue the broadest possible executive actions, Sessions said in a statement on Wednesday.
Open-borders groups have grown bolder and louder in their unlawful demands, launching a campaign for the president to go big, and demanding that he stand up to Congress and expand DACA, he added, citing an Associated Press report that administration officials were meeting with immigration activists and the Chamber of Commerce.
It is chilling to consider now that these open-border groups, frustrated in their aims by our Constitutional system of government, are plotting with the Obama administration to collect their spoils through executive fiat, Sen Sessions said.
Sessions issued the statement in an attempt to build pressure on Democrats, especially red-state senators facing reelection, to force a vote on the House-passed bill to prevent Obama from expanding DACA or issuing any work permits to illegal immigrants.
The steps that must be taken are clear: the Senate must vote on the House-passed measure to stop these unlawful actions. It is true that Majority Leader Reid is blocking it from a vote. But Reid acts only with the blessing of his members in the Democrat conference so the American people have the power to force it to a vote through their elected senators, Sessions said.
Sen Sessions exhorted Americans: That begins with asking a simple question: Where do your senators stand?

FROM SEA TO SHINING SEA A sweet irony---the "party of the people" lacerated, and dumped, by "the people."
Republican takeover looks like as of midnight 11/5---some states still undecided. Map courtesy of http://www.nationaljournal.com.
MIDTERM WRAP-UP The treasure trove of The Midterm Democrat Demolition in the Congress and down-ticket have yet to be fully- mined. But this we know:
<><> Astute Political analyst Chris Stirewalt nailed it on The Kelly File---Obama (and all the loser Dems) still can't fathom what happened---that their misspent lives as Democrats are going to change dramatically.
<><> When the next Senate convenes, 25 lock-stepping Democrats will be gone;
<><> the GOP's majority in the House will be so big and solid NBC's Chuck Todd says Democrats won't be able to recapture it until at least 2022.
<><> Some say Republicans have a 100-year majority.
Thank you Sen Sessions.
Because if there’s one thing the Chamber of Commerce hates it’s paying low wages.
Build a fence around Washington DC.
The article is talking about congress. You are talking about common sense. No possibility of an intersection.
Thank you.
Do we really want 500 million or more people living in the USA?
Too many politicians on the Democrat and Republican side of aisle believe they can fix the Social Security and Medicare mess by importing millions of new taxpaying people into the USA.
Sounds like a good idea but it does not work because we already have millions of people out of work and on disability, food stamps, and welfare because of Obama’s open borders.
“Virginia Pilot”, is that not some kind of liberal rag??
Anyway, like you, I believe we need to enforce the borders, how many border jumpers are there in Korea?, and have a functioning deportation program. I know the rant, we cannot deport 12-20 million illegals. OK, here is a paraphrase the Pilot can probably understand: journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Besides, once we make it uncomfortable i.e. no benefits, no jobs, no drivers licenses etc, they will self deport in droves. Lastly, as much as I hate to upset the Chamber of Commerce (sarcasm), begin fining and putting into jail employers who look the other way and hire illegals.
If Obama vetoes that, we hammer on the message that we passed a good faith package, and OBama killed it.
RINO friendly Chamber of Commence.... fixed it...
The democrats want the republicans to do the dirty work. The problem is the republicans leaders are willing.
When/if the republicans can/do come up with a workable plan on immigration, odumbo will get the media praise for doing so. The illegals (new American’s) will fall all over themselves trying to praise odumbo for his great gift of citizenship and will vote demodommie forever. Let’s face it, its all about votes anyway.
