Congratulations to the Jewish Republican Winners of 2014
The Republican Jewish Coalition ^ | November 5, 2014 | Shari Hillman

Posted on 11/06/2014 10:33:17 AM PST by Clintonfatigued

The Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) offers our warmest congratulations to the Jewish Republicans who won their races yesterday in the important election of 2014. We are especially delighted that Lee Zeldin won his congressional race in New York’s first district, making him the Jewish Republican in the 114th U.S. Congress. We are also pleased that the Jewish Republicans in state offices around the country won their reelections. Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens, Ohio State Treasurer Josh Mandel, South Dakota State Senator Dan Lederman, Texas State Representative and House Speaker Joe Straus and Texas State Representative Craig Goldman all won reelection. Congratulations to them all. And congratulations to Dan Schwartz, the incoming Nevada state treasurer. We are very proud of our members and friends who made the choice to serve, took on tough opponents, and won the day. We thank them for their service, offer them our continued support, and wish them success going forward.

More good news. I hope to see these names in the news more often. There may be some future U.S. Senators and Congressmen in this group.

Texas State Representative and House Speaker Joe Straus

Joe Straus is a RINO scumbag who relies of Democrats to stay in power. May he be struck by lightning, and yes I am a Jew.

One of the unreported news items this cycle is how the Democrats are bleeding Jewish voters, and I think this will become very apparent in New York, where the party’s insane social liberalism is at odds with the growing clientelle of ultra-orthodox jews.

Like with Hispanics across flyover country, and Asians in California, the Republicans have an opportunity here to start taking a sledgehammer to the ‘rainbow coalition’ that has proved so formidable.

The racist, sexist garbage is obviously losing mileage (just as Udall), so we might see a more ‘idea-oriented’ electorate in 2016. On ideas, Democraps crash and burn.

"South Dakota State Senator Dan Lederman"

There's a Jew in South Dakota?

(Former North Dakota Jew, all of whom could nicely fit in the Temple at High Holidays....)

Looks like the author was going to tell us how many Jewish Republicans are in Congress - but then he failed to write down the number.

Anyone know how many Jewish Republicans are in Congress?

“the” as in only.

Before Zeldin, Cantor had that title for a decade.

Re: “One of the unreported news items this cycle is how the Democrats are bleeding Jewish voters.”

I'm not that optimistic.

In 2008 American Jews supported Obama by 78%.

In 2012, they supported Obama by 70%.

Yesterday, I read a poll from a Jewish organization that said just 65% of Jewish voters voted for a Democrat Congressional candidate.

I think that 65% is misleading.

Most American Jews live in states and Congressional Districts where Democrats win easily.

That fact can reduce voter turn out in a non-presidential election like 2014.

In 2016, I think Jewish support for Democrats will go right back to the 70%-80% range where it has been for decades.

I think Conservative optimism about Orthodox Jews is also incorrect.

In America, Orthodox Jews use welfare at twice the rate of other white Americans, and the median family income for Orthodox Jews is below the average for other white Americans.

A majority of Orthodox Jews will continue to vote Republican, but it is not a huge majority, and it is certainly not enough to offset the huge majority of secular Jews who vote against Republicans.

I was happy to see that Zeldin not only beat Tim Bishop, but trounced him by 10% (a larger margin than Democrat Steve Israel got in the adjoining district. It’s too bad that Mark Greenberg fell short in the CT-05, or we’d have two Jewish Republicans in the House. Another lost opportunity was in TX-36, where Ben Streusand (who is Jewish) lost the GOP run-off to Brian Babin in the safely Republican district.

I let out a spontaneous war whoop when I heard. I never forgot the look of contemptuous hate Bishop allowed on his face in the presence of cameras no less just because constituents came down to let him know how they felt.

“...huge majority of secular Jews who vote against Republicans...?

Will someone please explain what a “secular Jew” is?

(an oxymoron that can truly drive one nuts)

IMHO

In my comment on Orthodox Jews, I was trying to distinguish between Orthodox and non-Orthodox, and secular was the first word that came to mind.

In general usage, a secular Jew is someone who identifies with the Jewish people as an ethnic group, but who might not be especially religious, or who might not be committed to the Jewish faith at all.

“Anyone know how many Jewish Republicans are in Congress?”

Currently, there is one, outgoing Eric Cantor of Virginia. With Zeldon’s victory, there will be one Jewish Republican in Congress again.

Just saying, but no matter what, it’s still an oxymoron and allows for much confusion and many times charges of ignorance and stupidity on the part of those who mistake “secular Jews” for Jews.

It’s still irritating and exasperating and no doubt an insult to Jews of faith.

Once again, just saying.

IMHO

funny!

Seriously, why do married with children, hard-working, sober, moral and upstanding Jewish Americans vote Democrat? I have my theory, but I'm not Jewish. I have been asked if I was going to do Aliyah while on the Kibbutz, but I didn't qualify.

Jews vote not much different from their urban neighbors.

As secular Jews move to the suburbs and and adopt the political views of their non-Jewish neighbors, they also lose their identity as Jews. That naturally leaves more identifiable Jews as libs than not.
