Years ago when reading Heinlein’s SISL, I was struck by his depiction of society in the future as being “sieged”.
Outside little enclaves of sanity, roamed lawless marauders and to go from one enclave to another in armored vehicles. I guess it all wasn’t like that, but this is one of the things I remember to this day.
What is happening with these illegals and the inundation of California (very largely) and elsewhere, too, reminds me of when I read this back so long ago.
Well, I suppose there are many straw purchasers, and some purchasers who plain just need the money. Someone legally not allowed to purchase or have one would pay very top dollar.
Find a legal no record junkie, sober him/her up for a day and pay them to go buy a weapon for you is another option.
