GOOD GUY WITH A GUN ENDED TERROR ATTACK ON CANADIAN PARLIAMENT
Breitbart ^ | 10/22/2014 | AWR HAWKINS

Posted on 10/22/2014 10:17:03 PM PDT by logi_cal869

On October 22, recent Islamic convert Michael Zehif-Bibeau shot and killed a Canadian Forces reservist, then went into Parliament Hill with rifle in hand, but the carnage that could have followed was prevented when a good guy with a gun--Sergeant-at-Arms Kevin Vickers--shot and killed the attacker. According to the Toronto Sun, Zehif-Bibeau was "just outside the Parliamentary library" and therefore close to reaching the MPs when Vickers stopped the attack. Reuters reports that the attacker was a mere 60 feet away from the MPs when Vickers intervened. Vickers' role as Sergeant-at-Arms is largely ceremonial. However, he is a 29-year veteran of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, according to the National Post, and his training and experience appear to have come into play exactly when they were needed. The Sydney Morning Herald quotes Canadian Veterans Affairs Minister Julian Fantino as saying: "[Vickers] did a great job and, from what I know, shot the gunman." The assistant commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said the attack "caught [them] by surprise," that they didn't see it coming. So it is unclear how many more lives may have been lost if a good guy with a gun had not been present to stop Zehif-Bibeau.

That is a good shot, from that distance, under pressure. Good for him. I have seen only small bits of info about the good guy with a gun, stopping a bad guy with a gun. It does not fit the narrative of the libtards.

There appears to be 2 soldiers guarding the Tomb. I’d bet they weren’t allowed to have their long guns with bullets. Otherwise soldier #2 would have killed the gunman after he shot soldier # 1.

Canada can’t afford bullets for every gun? Do they draw straws every day to determine who gets bullets?

I wonder how many members of Parliament knew the Sergeant-At-Arms even had a gun... The next news item will most likely be that Parliament will be a gun free zone.

Imagine now if their was two gunmen? or three or four? What would thing have been like with six well armed ISIS fanatics? The outcome would have been much different. These attacks are just to soften us up—for the big ones to come.

A bit sad that he had to run to a desk drawer to retrieve the weapon....

Well, it doesn't really say he was 60 ft from the perp.

Of course it does not fit the narrative of the Leftists. To them the good guys are evil especially one with a gun.

The fictional good guy eschews firearms in place of the utility belt and throwing stars.

Liberal unilateral disarmament.

“I’d bet they weren’t allowed to have their long guns with bullets. Otherwise soldier #2 would have killed the gunman after he shot soldier # 1.”

From what I’ve heard & read, their guns were “ceremonial”, and they didn’t have bullets in them. The officer who was killed was a veteran, and I assume the other one was too, so they would have been trained to handle guns WITH bullets.

What I’ve wondered, considering Canada’s anti-gun laws and that the Sargent-at-Arms is an honorary position, why did he have a gun WITH bullets? Is that customary? His training and years of experience certainly came to the rescue yesterday. He is deservedly IMO being called a “hero”.
