Can Cruz Save the Day?
National Review Online ^ | October 2, 2014 | Joel Gehrke

Conservative activists fear that lack of a national theme or agenda for this election cycle will depress conservative turnout, leaving Republicans with — at best — a bare Senate majority rather than the larger wave that some political observers have predicted.

“One of the things you must give the voters is a tune they can whistle, and Republicans are not doing that this time,” longtime conservative fundraiser Richard Viguerie tells National Review Online. Instead, party leadership is too passive in waiting for Democrats to self-destruct, according to activists.

“The concern is that the Republicans are trying to drift past the finish line, and it reminds me a lot of the Mitt Romney 2012 strategy of sort of running out the clock,” FreedomWorks president Matt Kibbe tells National Review Online. “Republicans never do nearly as well as they think they will by running on issue-less campaigns.”

Viguerie hopes to change that by persuading Senator Ted Cruz (R., Texas) to coordinate with activists in an effort to nationalize the 2014 races by focusing on immigration, national security, and the “culture of lies” and “lawlessness” in President Obama’s administration, an umbrella category that covers everything from Obamacare to the IRS.

“Cruz could do this,” Viguerie says. He also mentions that he has reached out to the senator and other activists about the idea. “Cruz has the respect, the admiration, the trust of conservatives, [so] that if he wanted to provide this leadership, conservatives would fall in line.”

“For me, it’s beyond hope; it’s an expectation that he’s going to do that,” Media Research Center president Brent Bozell tells NRO.

In the meantime, Tea Party activists aren’t waiting for instructions. “What we’re focused on is making sure that, as much as we possibly can, we are setting the stage so that there will not be executive amnesty during the lame-duck session or during Congress next year,” says Jenny Beth Martin of the Tea Party Patriots. “And we continue to push the need to repeal Obamacare and start over with health-care reform.”

That message is very similar to the one that Cruz is already articulating......

For which Mitch McConnell, John Boehner, and Carl Rove should all take a bow.

The only health care I want to see is personal responsibility health care. No government involvement period.

Go Cruz.

The GOPers who hate Ted Cruz and the TEA Party are now begging for our votes. They have no intention of doing anything for us, though.

Much as I love Mr. Cruz, no he can’t save the day.

Election results of any sort are not going at alter this country’s fall at all.

The Republican establishment calls conservatives racists and extremists.

Then, they want our money and our votes.

That causes me to call the establishment, morons.

That’s all true, all well and good. But for Cruz to lead voters to vote for the likes of McConnell, Cochran, Roberts and so on, Viguerie is asking Cruz to walk over a cliff.

So which is it Viguerie? Are you the point man for the establishment hoping that Cruz can rally conservatives to support the GOPe and win November?

Not without concessions carved in stone!

For starters:

1. McConnell and the GOPe pledge that the new Senate Majority Leader will be Ted Cruz or someone that Ted Cruz endorses (because Cruz will likely be the GOP Presidential Nominee for 2016).

2. Thad Cochran pulls out of the MS Senate race and endorses Chris McDaniel.

3. John Boehner pledges to not allow any vote on immigration, none whatsoever during the coming lameduck session.

4. John Boehner resigns gracefully as Speaker and Michele Bachmann is asked to replace him.

5. The GOPe and its PACs submit to Tea Party financiers such as the SCF.

6. The GOP of both chambers pass a resolution calling out the illegality and limiting the implementation of Obama’s existing or prospective Executive Orders IMMEDIATELY!

7. The GOP network of governors and the GOP Congress file for an immediate federal injunction against the implementation of any of Obama’s Executive Orders, existing or prospective that are alleged to be lawless, AND to transfer enforcement of that federal injunctive order to State jurisdiction and its law enforcement bodies granting powers to arrest any federal officer or official that moves to violate the federal and state injunctive orders.

If January 20, 2017 dawns with fewer than 90% of Americans dead, Hussein will consider his “service” in the White House as only partially successful.

When I see a Republican with the courage to say this in public, then I will have hope that some Republican may be able to “save the day.” Otherwise, it’s all a gigantic charade.

Louie Gohmert would make an excellent replacement for Boehner and would be my first choice.
