Too many people are trying to conflate everyone/everything involved into a single unified meme. It’s not. There’s the probably-improperly killed kid, there’s the looting/burning/vandalizing opportunists who have nothing to do with the former, there’s the apologists trying to justify the latter as motivated by the former, there’s the sociopolitical opportunists who look for any forum for their anti-government/anti-right-wing message, there’s the peaceful protesters who are genuinely pissed off at any of the former and are expressing their dismay properly, etc.
And yes, that photo has been floating around since it happened.

A “kid” (nigh unto adulthood) was killed by police under questionable circumstances, so people who didn’t know him looted and burned down a convenience store.
Yes, that makes no sense. That’s the kind of mentality we’re dealing with here.
