UPDATE: Dictionary.com has removed the offensive recommended sentences which slammed homeschooling. Thanks to all who wrote in.
For those asking, here was a screenshot of the offensive words.
Because of course a dictionary has to become ideological
If you look up homeschool over at Dictionary.com, you get the following example sentences which use the word in question.
If you wish to teach your children such nonsense, then homeschool where lame propaganda can remain unchallenged. If she cant find anyone willing to validate her helicopter parenting, shell homeschool. If you want to keep your kids from reality and turn them into mindless automaton copies of yourself, homeschool them.
My wife and I do not homeschool, but we know many parents who do. But, Im not really offended by this. It reminds me of lame home skool t-shirt sold by J.C. Penneys a few years ago. Both the shirt and this stupid dictionary entry are hackneyed attacks which say a whole lot more about the author than it does the subject of the sentence.
Maybe its as simply as someone at Dictionary.com who has an ax to grind. Did his child lose a spelling bee to a homeschooler?

I’d rather have my kids be mindless automatons of myself than mindless automatons of Karl Marx, Margaret Sanger, and Alfred Kinsey.
Those sensitive souls wouldn’t dare say something that snotty about any of their faves.
“If you want to keep your kids from reality and turn them into mindless automaton copies of yourself”
Instead, let your kids become tools of the state, you know, like the Hitler Youth. God, liberals make me SICK!
Well, both would be evil but in different manners. If Paul was aghast when people regarded him as an idol, how much more you.
Thanks for the update...they apparently removed the stupid sentences, right?
> If Paul was aghast when people regarded him as an idol, how
> much more you.
I think you have the wrong idea.
Automaton does not mean worshiper, but copier.
Paul would have others follow him as he followed Christ.
I feel the same for my children.
WOW, pretty despicable.
My gosh, these leftists are like cockroaches, you stomp on one, and another dozen emerge from the woodwork!
I just looked and they are still there.

Now you whip out Christ. Shouldn’t Christ be leading?
> Now you whip out Christ. Shouldnt Christ be leading?
Read the epistles of Paul or talk to your pastor about it. I didn’t introduce the concept, Paul did.
They must have just removed them, they’re not there now.
Now, that is funny. We homeschooled our boys. Both received full-ride scholarships at major universities. Both were on the Dean’s list every time.
Universities WANT homeschooled kids, as most that want to continue their education are already autodidacts, and are typically guaranteed to represent their school in a respectable manner.
“Those who control the language control minds.” Ayn Rand.
Isn't wishing the status of mindless automaton
on anyone rather dehumanizing?
More examples of lefties “loving diversity”...
Think their way or be a moron...
> Isn’t wishing the status of “mindless automaton” on anyone
> rather dehumanizing?
I see that nobody understands hyperbole anymore.
Bump from a proud parent of a homeschooled child that is now a happy, well adjusted and successful adult who ran rings around most of her public school indoctrinated contemporaries.
She went to public high school for 3 eye opening years. Looking back I still marvel at the ignorance, incompetence, duplicity, amorality, sheer laziness and the incessant outright lying of those in the system at the HS and the entire county school system. I shudder to think how much worse it must have gotten since my dealings with them ended in 2000.
If our public school system isn’t radically overhauled, there is no hope. And I just don’t see that happening. It is too late for incrementalism.
If you want your children to learn to think for themselves, then homeschool them.
If you want your children to not be slaves to the collective, then homeschool them.
