Sounds to me like problem with the public not following the law.

To me, it’s the same as the CDC calling guns a medical problem. They go out of their way to decry and demean owner ship of guns and the behavior of people associated with gun ownership, but they do and say nothing about the behavior of homosexuals and any corresponding problem with HIV/AIDS transmission.

Gun violence means nothing to socialists. It’s merely a propaganda tool to them.

Kane’s article clearly indicates that gun violence is strongly correlated to certain types of people.

I’m trained in public health and I’m an expert in vector identification.

The problem here, the obvious problem, is the shooters. It’s not the guns.

If it were the guns, there would be 84 shootings in every small town in America every week.

“When Mallory O’Brien, executive director of the Milwaukee Homicide Review Commission, looks at the levels of gun violence in cities such as Chicago, she sees similarities with Milwaukee in terms of the demographics and the social environments where many of the shootings are located.”

So eliminate these “Social Environments”.

Let’s start calling this what it is.
It is NOT “gun violence”.

It is “urban cultural violence”.

So, if you want to do something about the violence, do something about the cause.

The violence is pretty much quarantined to the areas of the feral revolution. So long as it is contained, why is it a public health problem?

It’s like queers and aids.

Describing some parts of the inner city as “the Wild, Wild West” or “an urban war zone” to make a point about lawlessness just doesn’t cut it anymore

Of course it does but it just does not fit your agenda. To claim that the problem is “gun” violence in a City that has the toughest gun laws in the Nation validates that you are working from a particular agenda. If more people outside of the inner city of Chicago have guns then those inside the city then if guns are the problem there should be more killings outside of the city then inside the city. Since that is not being reported it is easy to assume that there isn’t. It is not “gun” violence that problem it is the problem, it is people violence.

It's time to call it what it is: an epidemic of gun violence as deadly as any infectious disease or plague that any health professional can imagine.

Well, it is (almost) an epidemic, and, as with any epidemic, vector control is key.

The comparison to infectious diseases is specious.

Medical conditions due to vitamin deficiency or genetic abnormality can be every bit as fatal as those due to bacterial or viral infection, but because they’re not spread by a foreign agent, combatting them has to be approached in a different fashion.

As others have pointed out above, gun possession is not the cause of gun violence; focusing on the gun rather than the actual cause(s) of a violent culture isn’t just futile, it’s counterproductive because it distracts from actually solving the problem. If a person’s got a vitamin deficiency disease, treatment with agents to counter infections does no good; and the longer that treatment is continued in the absence of any other palliative approach, the longer the real problem is left untreated.

The first thing these folks need to realize is that gun violence is NOT like an infectious disease.

“widespread mayhem”
Maybe wide spread in democrat infestations.
Need to send in more ammo and tell Reginald Denny to stay the he$$ clear of such environs.
Watch word “urban america”

Since every mass murder in the last two decades was committed by a person with ties or support of liberal causes, it would be more correct to say that liberalism is a crisis in public health.

Seems a bit racist to refer to black culture as a public health issue.

One thing that fairly screams at readers: All of these high violent crime cities are run by Democrats and have been for decades. The Democrats have disarmed the honest and taxpaying people to make their cities Gun Free Zones. How well has that worked? I guess all the thugs and wannabee gangsters missed that memo, eh? [Note to brain dead Democrats: thugs and murderers do NOT obey the laws and especially not gun control laws. Why did you think they would?]

What doesn't work is gun control and Gun Free Zones. What does work is what Robert A. Heinlein said: “An armed society is a polite society.”

Never mind the people, never mind what they do, blame the GUN.
Always the GUN.
As if people wouldn't even think about killing each other if there were no GUNS.

what a load of horse manure. it is the evil human that pick up a inanimate object and turned it into a act of violence.

IF YOU CARE, IF you are tired of paying for keeping killers of children alive. Then PLEASE help Nikki get the justice 2 juries handed down. ALL Fed and State appeals are exhausted, our coward RINO gov won't set a date or issue the order necessary to remove this pond scum.

Ashley 'Nikki' Read, 2 juries decided that the Death Penalty was the correct punishment for the RAPE and MURDER of this 8 year old.. ALL APPEALS have run out. Justice delayed is Justice DENIED!

TN Gov email is bill.haslam@tn.gov 615 741-2001

David Keen Child killer david keen

This CHILD RAPIST HAS RUN OUT OF ALL 20 YRS OF APPEALS, TN GOV Halsam still has NOT SET AN EXECUTION DATE OR SIGNED A DEATH WARRANT, EMAIL HIM TO DO SO bill.haslam@tn.gov 615 741-2001 Phone calls are more effective.

This is 20 years of appeals. 24 YRS SINCE THE CRIME. TOOK ONLY THE DNA TO PROVE WHO DID IT, #1 SUSPECT. DNA & confession proved he raped, strangled to death with her OWN SHOE LACES 8 year old Ashley 'Nicki' Read and then threw her body in the river. Even helped hunt for what was thought to be a missing child.

From the long article that sites the codes.

At some point while she was being violently raped, Nikki was struck in several parts of her face, and her head was smashed against the door handle.   Although it is impossible to know how long Nikki remained conscious during this terrifying ordeal, it is uncontroverted that she was alive and conscious at least through part of the rape, because even though the full weight of the appellant was crushing her and even though she was being manually strangled, the appellant admitted that Nikki struggled to get free with her arms and legs.   In fact, the appellant candidly admitted that she struggled to get free for “a little while.”   When the appellant finished his gruesome act, he noticed that she was no longer breathing and had turned blue, a fact he attributed to putting “too much pressure on her [neck] where she couldn't breathe.”

“Gun violence is a crisis in public health”

Sounds like we need to import more illegal gang bangers from Central America.

We need their expertise’s in how to cure this “health problem”.

Democrat public policy and Democrat politicians and cities run by them... that’s the crisis here.

But go ahead, change the subject. The pot-smoking, alphabet-news watching, welfare-supported segment of the population (large and growing) doesn’t want to know the truth anyway.
