Gov. Chris Christie vetoed a gun control bill Wednesday that would have banned ammunition magazines holding more than 10 rounds.

In his veto message, the Republican governor rejected the idea that limiting the number of bullets that guns can hold will put an end to mass shootings, calling it a "simplistic" and "trivial" approach. The bill would have reduced the legal ammunition capacity from 15 to 10 rounds.

Woo Hoo! All is good with krispy cream now. Guess I'll support him for president. Errr, maybe not so much. Not sure if anybody will fall for this one. The message is clear enough for the veto but to me it seems like he's pandering and looking for support for '16. Uh, NOPE! Too late now.

He is right in a sense that the legislation would have been “trivial”, but that is the left’s tried and true MO, to chip away at our rights until they’re in a postition to make the Great Leap, ie, an Obama administration.

Which begs the question that, since Christie is known to not be a friend of the Second Amendment, and he considers this legislation trivial, did he want a less “trivial” law, which would really put the screws to law-abiding American gun owners? Ie, this legislation didn’t go far enough for him?

I remember seein’ him “posin’” with the lyin’king. They shoulda tossed out some gang signs while they were together. I guess some people have no conscience when it comes to sucking up to get what they need. And, guess what. I don’t think NJ has gotten the help they thought they were gonna get yet. Funny (in a sad way) how folks keep voting for people full of empty promises.

Good grief!

15 is already too small!

The move to 10 could hardly have been intended to impact many weapons.

It was simply another fascist step in incrementalism.

He did one thing right! But pandering for sure. His best bud lives in our house in DC.

Why don't he state a solid reason like this one:
Limiting magazines for lawful users will have no effect on criminal use of guns.

While he did the right thing, my unalienable rights are not subject to the opinions of Mr. Christie, or any other politician.

I am certain that his replacement, regardless whether they have an (R) or (D) by their name will eventually sign this bill and make a criminal out of me.

He was correct in his veto, but his reasoning and response are weak. He is simply a lazy lard ass in his physical, spiritual, political and intellectual being. In other words he is a RINO.

Crispy still has some hope of running in 2016. Otherwise he would loved to have signed that gun control bill. He’d love to get rid of automatic rifles (don’t say assault rifles) period.

Yay! At least if I ever make the mistake of visiting my family I won't be breaking the law by carrying my standard-capacity Glock 19 magazines; I'll just be breaking the law by carrying my Glock 19... or any gun for that matter.

Now maybe he can carry his logic through to the inevitable conclusion that stupid laws limiting the lawful carry of concealed weapons do not make anyone safer except the criminals... If he does that, maybe I'll consider voting for him for president. But even then, my patience is wearing thin with him.

Christie vetoes stricter gun ammunition limits

Michael Symons, @MichaelSymons_ 2:33 p.m. EDT July 3, 2014

TRENTON – Gov. Chris Christie vetoed a gun-control bill that would have cut the maximum allowable size for an ammunition magazine from 15 to 10 rounds, urging lawmakers to focus instead on mental illness to reduce violence.
